Every console packs mandatory updates with the latest game releases. Yeah, you'll be locked out of newer releases. You can not have both the intention to want to hack your console and want to play the latest releases. It's a choice (and a gamble) you have to make. When (and if) it gets eventually hacked it's a huge payoff.
