I had this problem with the original Mass Effect for a while. It took me from 2009 - 2011 to actually sit down, start a new game, and git gud appropriately to the difficulty curve. Turned out to be one of my favorites.

Nah I meant that when I go back to the game I still can't get past that thing that I got stuck in the first place.

I'm starting to run into a few nasty trends
>JRPG bosses who negate healing items with AOE attacks and super-lethal poison/status effects that make every turn healing until you run out of items and can't fight back without getting rekt in one hit
>escort missions where I die repeatedly trying to keep someone alive as I'm getting swarmed
>"defend this spot" missions where I'm getting swarmed with super difficult enemies, hordes, and snipers with weak-shit weapons to fight back
>start up a game
>get a few hours into it, enjoy it
>stop playing it, not necessarily due to being stuck but just not going back to it for whatever reason or playing something else
>want to play it again months later
>feel like I wouldn't remember enough about the game's story and/or mechanics up to the point I stopped at and would be depriving myself of a good experience
>can't be fucked starting it from the beginning either

Holy shit this was me on BioShock Infinite's hardest difficulty. Got stuck fighting the ghost bitch and after trying over and over I finally gave up and didn't look at the game again until the Burial at Sea DLC when I decided to give it another go just for shits and giggles.
Beat her my first try in under a minute, with one magazine of ammo.
