I would have great games, but there were always people a step above me. People who would go straight for the sniper and popped domes like nothing. I would pick up the sniper every once in awhile, more in H2A where I was a lot more accurate with it, but sometimes I actively avoided it because I was afraid of missing every shot in the clip. I haven't played in about 8 months and haven't tried Halo 5 but I'm sure I'd be alright. I got a Killtrocity in the H5 beta.
I was really good at Battlefield 1943, I would average 35-45 kills a game.
I currently wreck in battlegrounds with my Prot Warrior. I'm always in the fray, stunning and slowing fools and taking shittons of damage.

Okay, personal taste aside, the player base certainly does not constitute it as dead. It is still a very popular game. Look at other multiplayer games that have come out in the past year and compare it to TF2. A lot of them are straight up dead. TF2 is still alive and active since 2007.
