I got a Wii U last December because of Sm4sh. I think it was worth $250 because of Sm4sh, Hyrule Warriors, Bayo 1 and 2 and Xenoblade Chronicles. All the DLC is absolutely worth it and you definitely get mileage out of all of these games.
It's really up to you. I kind of feel cheated because of the NX shit but whatever. I'd wait to see what Nintendo says about the NX but that's just me.

As a companion console for my PC the Wii U has been worth it to me 100%. If I didn't have a PC, I probably would have went with a PS4, but there is literally one game on it that I can't play on PC that I'm remotely interested in versus the 10-12 on Wii U that I either own or want to get.
If you like Nintendo games and either aren't interested in AAA multiplats or have a PC to play them then I think it's a good buy.

Personally, I think the WiiU worth buying now as it ever will be, but it isn't going to get anything more outside of Zelda and Starfox next year. I don't regret getting it since I had a lot of fun with Splatoon and other titles, but it's hardly a homerun.
