How do I GIT GUD at Nuclear Throne? I've had the game for maybe 4 days now and the furthest I've ever gotten is 2-3 (once).
I usually play as Crystal with assault rifle/melee combo, if that provides any insight.

Having the same problem. I main Fish and usually go with Assault Rifle or Pop Gun + an heavy hitter gun like the Granade Launcher or Crossbow. The farthest I got was 3-1.

I usually pick out the resources/drops related ones (Bloodlust, Lucky Shot, Open Mind, Rabbit's Foot, Second Stomach, Plutonium Hunger) and Sharp Teeth if I come across it, which almost never happens.

I lasted on 2-3 long enough to see Junk Dog (whatever its name is) for an entire 3 seconds. Sometimes you get dropped in the middle of 20 enemies with 18 bullets left to your name.

When you beat the last boss, the game starts over at the desert with enemies from all levels there plus cops, and bosses for the stages that don't normally have bosses like sewers, crystal caves, and the lab.

Here is how you git gud at nuclear throne.
>Play Crystal until you can beat the game
>Don't ever get her throne butt
>Get really good at actually weaving in between bullets
Nuclear Throne is essentially a bullet hell game with huge hitboxes and much faster bullets, so you've got to play it like one. You have essentially be untouchable in order to be good at the game.
Of course, if you've played bullet hell games before, like me, the enemies that run up and deal contact damage will repeatedly rape the shit out of you.Assassins are imbalanced as fuck. Most of the enemies in this game are fair but they need to fix assassins. Being able to hit Crystal through her right click is absurd and they deal way too much damage for some of the confined spaces they spawn in. Yes, I'm mad.

Throne butt upgrades the right click of the character you're playing, and it differs from character to character. Crystal's causes her to teleport at the end of her right click to wherever the cursor is at. Hypothetically, you can use it efficienty if you're some kind of reaction time god, but in practice, it usually just ends up putting you in more danger.

Some tips:
Crystal is a good starting character, but YV is the best character in my opinion. He shoots faster with all guns and starts with golden revolver which shoots faster than the normal revolver
Crystal's throne butt is shit, I never take it
I always take Scarier Face over any other perk in 99% of the time it shows up, Rabbit Paw is a close second. Other good perks are Strong Back, Bolt Marrow, Rhino Skin, Open Mind, Second Stomach, Stress, and Trigger Finger.
I sometimes take Bolt Marrow even if I don't have a bolt weapon because chances are that you will find one eventually and Bolt Marrow plus Auto Crossbow is an instant win.
