>Five Nights comes out
>/v/ loves it
>Several months later
>/v/ hates it
Somebody explain. Did it get too "mainstream" and "hip" for /v/?
the fanbase got corrupted by weird furries.
like not regular furries, which can be adequately described as weird, but furries who other furries look down on.

It wasn't that it got too mainstream it's that it got too, XD autistic

Happens all the time.
Happened with Minecraft.
Happened with Katawa Shoujo.

/v/ loved it until several more games came out with the same formula

First one was ok, then they started milking it like a dirty whore.
>"mainstream" and "hip
No it got too autistic. It's almost at Sonic levels of autism.

it was serviceable at first, interesting concept
got boring and stale once you learned the mechanics and could run it like clockwork
then it got gang raped by youtubers and Scott went apeshit with sequelsalthough i think the way he released the games was smart, since they didn't have good lasting power and would have probably made the most amount of money when released in quick succession before the hype wore off
Life cycle of any indie game on /v/:
>Game comes out
>People enjoy it
>threads keep being made
>AAAshitters eventually start to notice that there are a lot of threads for the game
>immediately begin to shit on it
>if the game portrays any hint of "furry" or "tumblr" elements, then everything goes up in flames due to the anti-boogieman hivemind
>if not, it generates little controversy from that point on as the haters actually decide to play it and find that its okay
>then slowly dies
And now you know.
>>320484079
>caring about le fandom instead of the actual game
Are you actually retarded?
>>320483672
>hurrr why doesnt /v/ like franchise milking?
we're not /a/
>>320485498
first week on /v/ huh?
It's the same thing that happened with Undertale.
Furries and autists got ahold of it, and they went out of their way to shill it as much as they could, even flooding LPers with requests to play it.

Because for God knows what reason, the adolescent demographic of /v/ really cares about other people's opinion of a certain game. If in any thread about a videogame has a single post that says "it's shit", I can 100% guarantee that someone out there will believe that without ever actually playing the game himself.
Being the underage narcissists that they are, many /v/ users also care about who they are associated with if they declare that they like a game. From here the whole idea of not liking a game just because undesirables like furries or SJWs enjoy that type of game as well.
It's incredible honestly how even on an anonymous imageboard there still is that need to feel like you belong to a certain group of people that only play certain games while dismissing games that another group may like for the sole reason that it's liked by the opposing group.
And then there's also the simple joy of hating something popular just because it's popular. Remember the Modern Warfare 2 days when it broke all sorts of sale records. People were criticising how shit it is and by the time one or two more games came out, hating on Call of Duty was a daily routine. Look at it now however. Although CoD still sells immense numbers, it's long passed it's MW2 popularity days. Now people are actually praising the games and recognising that they are fun. 4chan has always had contrarian opinions just for the sake of being contrarian.
tl;dr if you let other people influence how you like or hate a game you should consider killing yourself
>Several months later
That's because there were already four games
>>320485570
there's nothing to care about
there's no content outside of a room in each game, some dumb minigames and muh deep lore, jumpscares,
that's really it
bite of '87 more like bite this dick
