I think it's kinda funny how things seem to have switched. At first PS Plus was just a nice option. You got some interesting free titles every month and occasionally the free titles were really good, slightly older AAA titles. But you didn't need it for a Multiplayer game.
Then you had Xbox Live, which forced you to pay for multiplayer without the perks or the free games.
Now you need PS Plus to get multiplayer service and Live has wised up and started offering free titles. In addition, it seems Microsoft's free offerings are consistently good were Sony's are now more often shit I don't care about.
It took me awhile to wise up, because they implemented it so quietly till I had to update my fucking credit card before playing some multiplayer on the PS4. Shit sucks.
