What I don't understand is why they wasted time redoing the graphics, which in a lot of people's opinion looks worse, when they could've ported the SNES/GBA version and threw an optional filter on it for 12 year old mobile-fags.

In recent interview from like last month he was talking about FF7 Remake and how FF1-4 got remakes, but they skipped 5 and 6 and went straight for 7.
It means he literally disowns these two.

It's worse than Silent Hill HD.
FF3 had its shitty touchscreen menu modded back to normal, so maybe the same can be done for FF5 and FF6. But still, there's a lot of godawful changes and I don't even know if all of them could hope to be fixed. It's better to avoid this shit than bother or waste money on it, especially since you could emulate the SNES version or emulate the GBA version with patches applied to fix certain problems with the port (mostly).
