There's nothing inherently wrong with a narrative driven linear adventure games. I'm not saying they shouldn't try incorporating more involved gameplay elements but honestly, after seeing the quality of their animations in their games, do you really trust them to make polished, high-action gameplay? They may not have the right experience, and are sticking with what they know, which is fine. They may not have the funds to hire experienced talent either, as much as I'd love a much more traditionally involved gameplay with TT tier writing and VA, it sounds like you're not pleased with the package they gave you, but there are a lot of people who like it just fine.
