i don't know, i grew up with DKC and i want to see him and dixie in smash.
i don't think he's the greatest character on earth or anything, but i don't think this roster will be complete without him.
half the characters in the game aren't super popular cult of personality characters either, they're just important figures in nintendo's history (DKC is the best selling series on the snes) and seeing them all together in the same game is half the appeal of smash.
i think people assume by how much he's talked about on sites like that that his supporters think he's amazing or something, but we really just consider him to be a glaring omission.

DLC characters were choose by sakurai from the beginning and then he gave you the ilusion of choice.
Retro, or rather Miyamoto/Nintendo decided not to use him or the Kremlings in Returns. Even if they appeared in Tropical Freeze, it wouldn't have mattered. Returns was the game Smash paid attention to. The only reason that trademark was filed because of the VC games. That's it. If there is another DK game, you better believe they won't use the Kremlings, and if they do, you know it won't be around the timeframe of Smash 5.
Donkey Kong cannot win when it comes to Smash. Even in Melee, Fire Emblem outnumbered it. Rare developing the notable games doesn't help it either, considering they're western-oriented, and the last three characters scream Japan(Kamiya, Nomura, IS). At least we can still play the DKC Trilogy and 64.

I was able to accept K. Rool being in Smash if it did happen before yesterday.It wasn't like the character I voted for was going to make it in anyways, too obscure.But once Corrin and Bayo got revealed, K. Rool fans seemed to have begun acting like entitled children. Now I'm sort of glad he didn't make it in.

Pre-rendered means they used a model to make the still images. The models themselves aren't any better than the stuff you'd find on the Gamecube titles. Hell, looking at the blue Kremling, you could say they were ripped from Mario Super Sluggers.
Either way, one look at the KI enemies in Smash Run make me believe the Kremlings were in the same boat.

There were so many KI enemies because they were on a 3DS game. If they had been able to use non-3DS models, they could have used a lot more stuff. Also, neither Barrel Blast nor Super Sluggers were on GCN. I think you're a bit confused.
