And JFA IS the worst in the trilogy. It may have one of the best cases in all of the games, but the average quality of the cases is inferior to the other two games.
I don't see a major difference in any of the first three AA games, but I guess gun to my head T&T would be my favorite, just because all that build up finally pays off. JFA is special though because it introduces best girl.

Ace Attorney is the worst one. The first two cases, while enjoyable, have nothing particularly special or interesting about them besides Mia's death. The third case is "literally who cares". I will admit the fourth case is great, but is unfortunately preceded by the final DS case, which is the worst one in the trilogy.
JFA's first case is alright, but it's second and fourth cases are arguably the best ones in the series. Big Top Turnabout is bad, but not as bad as 1-3 or 3-3.
T&T is all over the place. Who the fuck wants to play as Mia, in two shitty cases. Big Turnabout Recipe is fucking shit as well. It had something going for it with a "phony Phoenix Wright" concept, but that was soon ignored. The final case is very good, but not as good as 1-4 or 2-4.
Face the facts, if we were including games outside the trilogy, the real order of rank would most likely be
JFA>Apollo Justice>DD>T&T>AI1>AA
hopefully AA6 brings the series back on its feet.

I don't agree with you ranking of your series, but your assessment of the original trilogy is spot on. Though 1-1 will always hold a special place in my heart. The series took forever to get to Europe so I imported despite being unsure about it. When the music kicked in as the, albeit few, pieces came together I knew I would fucking love the game.

I agree with this a bit, and in general I would say I prefer non-supernatural explanations or in the age of space magic physics bullshit stories, more grounded explanations for stories. In the case of AA though I actually felt this was mixed, magatame was a nice gameplay element and generally I think it added more than it detracted. The spirit channeling wouldn't have been the worst thing ever either, the problem was they just overused the shit out of it especially with Mia "navi" Fey who became more of a captain obvious and obstacle to fun rather than something helpful and needed from a gameplay/story standpoint.

I was utterly surprised to read the Internet's opinion on Turnabout Big Top. I didn't think much of it at the time because I couldn't really relate to any of the characters, but I did like figuring out the twist and the testimonies were kinda tough to crack here and there which I always appreciate.

The case itself is fine but moving around is awful, particularly if you've missed a progression cue at some point and aren't sure where. If you could simply pick from all available locations it would be better, and that goes for every case, but SS really highlights the flaws.

I've played the first few missions of each Attorney game, but even though they're objectively better, I love the charm that Apollo Justice has. The new character with a fleshed out personality and his 'little sister' and the technology new to the series really makes it my favorite. I really should play the other games further, it's hard for me to believe that it gets better than Apollo Justice.

I play VNs for the slightly-foreign-yet-realistic settings and plots, the first AA game was really silly but I liked it, 2 and 3 just got too anime for my taste. In other words, I wasn't a fan of the supernatural bits.
