>Umineko is apparently heading to Steam relatively soon with new art.
Oh, neat, I gue--
>The company doing it is releasing each individual piece as its own budget title, bumping the price higher than it normally would be and ignoring that each of those releases originally came with up to three previous release's content intact.
Oh.
>still caring about Umineko after the trainwreck that was Chiru
A weeb and his money are soon parted.
>>320424353
That would imply I even finished the first four episodes.
It would only end up slightly more expensive than Clannad, and you could skip on paying for the shit half.
My only problem is the new is pretty rough.
Even compared to Ryukishi's art, it's just off
Pic unrelated, didn't save the new art
>>320424239
No, stop. Bad Ryu
>>320425049
It's not very original and it lacks a lot of charm, but it doesn't seem bad.
I will never be able to play Umineko again because every time I think about it I remember the 6 hour boat ride
how did this become popular with such shit art
Ange > Erika > Jessica > Lambda > Beato > the stakes > the bunnygirls > Virgillia > Gaap > Eva-Beato > Featherine > the aunt hags > Maria > the tranny twins
Only the first 4 or 5 episodes are even worth playing. They've been translated for ages. I don't know why anyone would want this. Just play the original and fap to fanart if you need better art.
>>320425556
Better thanan 8 year in real time ride like in Berserk.
>They're translating it as "Umineko: When They Cry" instead of "When the Seagulls Cry".
I get that they need the brand name recognition, but it's gross.
>>320424239

>there will be a new resurgence of official theory plebs
>there will be a chance to actually discuss what happened with people who didn't play the game ten years ago

That was how they were originally released though. Same with Higurashi.
The new Steam portraits for Umineko were posted somewhere but I'm too lazy to look for them again.

>>320425674
Or use Ps3 sprites if you care that much.
>>320424353
This,
Episode 5 was pretty good. 6's ending was bad given it was the start of the bullshit "answer" and 7 and 8 just continued where 6 left off.
Atleast the first half, and the music were good.
>>320426148
Each successive release of Higurashi/Umineko in 1-4 and 5-8 contained the preceding releases. So #3 would also include #1 and 2 while #6 would only include #5.
The guys translating them are releasing them this way and incrementally increasing the price (Higurashi 2 costs $7 instead of 1's $5), but not including previous episodes.
>>320426596
Well maybe wait until 4 and see if they're all there?
>>320426434
Listen, it's hard to make the comparison while acknowledging that Golden Sun sucks.

there isn't a much better rpg on gba, minimalist story isn't bad. decent at least. don't care for the music though
>>320426875
to THIS?
Incidentally, since we're on this topic, how does the fan translation of Higurashi compare to the one by Mangagamer? Is it at least passable? I went through the Steam versions of Onikakushi and Watanagashi, and now I don't really feel like waiting 10 years for them to do the rest of the series.

The old translation's fine. It's not flawless, but it's still a worthy read. Hope you enjoy it, anon.
>>320427225
>there isn't a much better rpg on gba
Two Advance Wars games, three Fire Emblem games, ZOE - Fist of Mars, Mario & Luigi, Pokemon, Riviera and Yggdra Union, Tactics Ogre - Knight of Lodis and its sister game FFTA, Summon Knight Swordcraft Story 1 & 2, Mother 3, the entire Mega Man Battle Network series, KH CoM, Lufia Ruins of Lore, and a number of strong ports and updated remakes (like Shining Force: Resurrection of the Dark Dragon, a game originally made by Camelot).
Even Mario Tennis - Power Tour, made by the same company for the same system, is a better RPG...and it's a sports RPG. Golden Sun's writing sucks ass, and being "generic" has nothing to do with it. The music's pretty nice, though.

that said, golden sun was the best among those things you listed aside from maybe tactics ogre, at least for the ones i played. if you don't like it, that's fine, but plenty of people loved it and it was one of my favorite games ever.
>>320429003
It's a strategy game. Wikipedia has it as "Turn-based tactics" as opposed to Fire Emblem's "Tactical role-playing game".

They're using those sprites because Mangagamer doesn't own the license to Alchemist's stuff. It's the same reason Higurashi on Steam uses the Hou sprites, instead of the sprites from the PS2 version or Sui.
That also means there won't be voice acting

starcraft: the vn
Does this pick up after the first episode? I dropped it right after the old man threw out his ring while it was raining because it was just an anime but without all the good parts. Maybe I'm just spoiled after having read Type Moon stuff, but I expected there to be some kind of choice in the VN. Story was kind of interesting, but it was taking too long building stuff up, so I dropped it after like 20 hours of listening and reading.
Can someone post the "Should I play Umineko diagram" pic? Have a couple people I want to show it to before they decide to play.
>>320435320
>spoonfeeding bandwagonfags
Oh right I forgot I was on neo veddit
>>320435183
Yes, the first episode is basically a long prologue
There's no choice until the very end of the series though
>>320435183
The only time you ever get any kind of choice is at the 8th episode, everything else is linear as fuck. Also things really start to get going when the murders happen.
>>320435183
Umineko has an extremely slow startup
>>320435183
choice is overrated
>>320435183
the first episode until the last five minutes or so is to umineko what cooking scenes are to type moon
>>320435183
>I dropped it right after the old man threw out his ring
> so I dropped it after like 20 hours of listening and reading
Are you reading at the speed of a snail? 20 hours is more than enough to finish the first chapter.
And yes, it gets better after the first episode, the first episode is nothing like the rest of the VN.
>>320435464
>Bandwagon
>Steam release announced almost half a year ago and probably not coming for another year.
You may as well call anyone playing or discussing any game not released in the last six months a "bandwagonfag".
>>320435471
>>320435524
That's kind of lame about the no choices until much later thing. It seems like this would have actually been a prime VN to get an anime adaptation since it's so linear.
>>320435527
Yeah, my friend that tried getting me into this told me it would be slow, and I would have been fine with it if it just had some interactivity.
Also, how is that other VN by the dude? The one with the laughing green girl. Can't remember it's name right now, or maybe it was called Higurashi?
>>320435464

>>320435806
Higurashi is great too but not as good as Umineko. You should read it first though, its a lot shorter and they take place in the same continuity. It starts off a lot stronger than Umi as well.

They're retranslating Higurashi which is why it's taking so long but Umineko already has a good translation so they could easily release it in one go.

I think for most of us we just don't agree with the premise being pushed. Felt very much like misdirection, just divulge from the beginning your story is going to be overly preachy about the nature of love and will have an ending that basically posits that what's done is done, who cares about unraveling it all. Also all the family members were kind of gigantic cunts, it's probably better for the world as a whole that Ange's family was slaughtered.
