Get the Nexus Mod Manager, it's super easy to use. Then you just download the .rar mod files, open them in the manager, and it sorts them all for you. You may have to play around with the load order, but that's easy as well.
Just look on the Skyrim nexus and pick a few from the top list. You can spend days browsing mods, so it's better to play with a few mods at first and get an idea of what you like and don't like.
Some of my favorite have been the "Immersive armors" and "immersive weapons" mods, which adds a lot more content and variety to the people.
There's another that makes it so you can see your body in first person mode, which is neat. I've got one that makes you actually experience the cold, which helps with immersion a little bit.

I strongly advise against Nexus Mod Manager.
It's slow and bloated and unless you have the knowledge to only ever install mods that will never include different versions of the same file you will screw up your installations.
Mod Organizer is harder to get used to, but it builds a virtual directory and uses a priority list to designate which files get loaded.
Look up gopher (guy on youtube) and watch his tutorials on Mod Organizer

I draw a lot, and while i'm not super great, i'm good enough to know about anatomically correct structures.
Although using a reference point would probably do wonders for me, so i'll keep that in mind when i make another character.
I guess it's just something about the actual sliders that fuck with me.
And fucking with the wireframe is probably the only thing i can rely on, but it's real easy to fuck up.

I'm a fan of SPERG, though you tend to end up a bit OP at later levels. It's compatible with most other mods without the need for patches too.
Only other one I've tried is PerMa, and that just made me angry with all the flavor text in the perk descriptions, to the point that you can't even tell what half of them do because the descriptions are all fluff.
I also don't like the way it handles magic, it makes it so that spell costs don't decrease with your skill or perks, but doesn't balance out the base cost of spells, so unless you're pumping magic every level you won't be able to cast high level spells. It really fucks over hybrid characters.
There are videos detailing most of the overhauls on youtube, you should check them out and see if one sticks out to you.

nigga, it is not hard at all. it mostly works the exact same way as other mod managers like you'd expect.
the benefit is that MO doesn't put mods in your data folder. it puts each mod in its own separate folder, so you never have the problem of one mod overwriting a file in your data folder that another mod already changed. you install all your mods and then pick the order in which you want to load them in order to determine which files are used when the game loads, it's great.

Finally I had to turn off AI detection. I kept a ring I had stolen on one of the thieves guild quests, I remembered before that you were supposed to give the other person a ring. It never asked me this time though, maybe they patched that part out.
