Aight, unless there is a sick sale after Christmas I would probably just invest in a really good PSU for now so you wont have to upgrade or replace it within the next few years.
You must buy a new PSU to power a new card but after that your budget isn't high enough for a GPU that improves your performance enough to justify the upgrade cost. It is possible to fit in a 960/R9 380 in there along with a new PSU but I don't really think that its worth it.
The 960/R9 380 are not enough to run all titles on 1080p@144hz with higher settings so you will most likely want to upgrade sooner than you'd think.

Go 500-600W if you want to be able to power any present/future single chip GPU with or without OC
and 750-800W if you want SLI capability.
You can go lower but that is mostly for specific cards and setups etc. PSU don't have much development anymore so its better to invest in higher performance now since there won't be any replacement for it in the future unlike CPU/GPU etc. If you buy something that is underpowered now its a loss you have to deal with in the future as well.

With some tweaking in the settings it will, but 5 years is probably pushing it to far, you should get ready to upgrade every other generation of GPU cards. Which is better than dumping all of your money on one single expensive card and watch its performance and value degrade faster than the middle ground cards like 960.

PC does multiplayer well. Look into PC exclusives like League of Legends/DOTA, ARMA series, the new Unreal Tournament as it slowly rolls out, RTS games, etc. If you'd rather play some single player exclusives--look at the vast and crazy world of simulation titles such as Train Simulator 2016, Farm Simulator 2016, iRacing, and rFactor.
Eventually you'll have to play multiplats--it's a pure business decision on the parts of the developer. Good news is multiplats are 80 percent of the time better on PC and even when the ship broken (Dark Souls, Batman: AK), the community is quick with homebrew fixes.
I have a similar build (with an older 3770K OC instead of your 4770k) and never run into problems with games--even with Arkham Knight on day two ran 60FPS at 1080p with full options on.
