Want this a program to pirate music 15 years ago
>>320382135
You're thinking of Kazaa.
>>320382212
Oh shit you are right
Literally nobody wanted this
>>320382212
Napster was before Kazaa.
i remember using it.
my very first mp3 that i downloaded from the internet was Bomfunk MC's - Freestyler
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xWHBogvoHqM
i remember it like it was yesterday.
>>320382067
They went legit a decade ago after their p2p inception, but I thought they died with streaming services and iTunes and Amazon mp3 just forced them out of business. I remember they were the choice for people with non iPod music players a decade ago. How are they still around?
>paying for music on the wiiU
>when it has an internet browser and youtube
JUST
>>320382406
Just like the Wii U.
>>320382067
This is like if they added MEGAUPLOAD or limewire
what the fuck is this shit
who uses napster in 2015
what the fuck nintendo
Apple Music or Spotify
>>320382757
>Apple Music or Spotify
Jesus fuck you brain dead corporate slaves are shameless.
>>320382598
It's Rhapsody now.
I don't know why is announced as Napster
>>320382672
>limewire
good times.it's a mirracle i'm not in jail yet.
inb4 you can hack your wiiu with this
>>320382212
Holy fucking shit, people on /v/ are too young to even remember Napster.
These are terrible times.
>>320382067
>Napster
IS THIS 2001 AGAIN?
>>320382848
Apple Music is pretty decent, I'm on a free trial right now though, don't know if I'd pay for it after these 3 free months end. Spotify is better though. Why the hell didn't Nintendo make a deal to bring Apple Music, Spotify, or even Google Play Music over?
>>320382135
Napster, Kazaa, Morpheus, Limewire, [direct downloads in between if manageable] than just plan ordinary Torrents for me.
>>320382858
Holy shit Rhapsody still exists?
>>320382870Limewire was twisted as fuck,I was traumatized but kept using the thing anyway
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VIuR5TNyL8Y
>>320382945
no. our times were terrible and internet back then was terrible.
kids these days don't miss anything.
>>320382067
What? Napster? Did I time travel? What's next ?Wii U is going to have Limewire for downloading e-shop games? It fits since the downloads are 56k modem tier.
Who /ares/ here
I know people that still use that shit.
>the world-renowned music streaming service
AHAH! Since when? They were world renowned in the past before Metallica
Napster was a filesharing service at one time but they got sued into bankruptcy. Then Roxio the company that makes CD burning software bought the rights to the brand and turned it into a music store like itunes but way less relevant. Then Roxio sold them to Best Buy who merged it with rhapsody which was basically the same idea.
>>320383020
Not even. It was technically 16 years ago. It got big in 2000 and spawned copies like Kazaa and Limewhire which people jumped to once Napster got shut down.
>Nintendo
>using decades old tech
Yeah, sounds about right
>>320383013
Fuck off, shill.
Napster is still a thing?
>>320383013
unfortunately the WiiU didn't sell 30 mil units is why
kinda sad really, showed my WiiU off to a friend and his cousin and they had both not even heard of it
>>320382945
18 here, I had a teacher that taught us about this and a couple other programs in freshman year of highschool. I just didn't know they were still around.
...Napster is still a thing?
>>320383720
Barely
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aV8DEJ8ydJQ
Here's another relic from the past.
Kids, it took us 1 hour to download a 3mb song.
>>320383013
>Google Play Music
>Clogging up the main screen with radio that I never use
>No HTML5
>Shoving in useless automatic mixes
I'm glad I stayed on the app version before the radio was added.
>friendster integration coming to the xbone
>>320382945
Well, last month I discovered a bunch of VHS in my uncle's garage and I tought it was some sort of obscure super niche technology LOL, never heard of them in my life before.
>>320384060
>xboners will get to make testimonials of their xbox live friends.
But why? Is Nintendo really THAT far behind the times?
Bearshare is coming to New Nintendo 3DS!
>it will never be 1999 again
>>320382067
Is napster even a thing anymore?
>>320384384
A brand name that's been passed around more times than a cheap whore.
> mfw wii u gets malware cancer
kek
>>320384384
It's basically itunes for poorfags at this point. The original service doesn't exist the only thing left is the brand sort of. Best Buy merged it with their own service Rhapsody which was also basically itunes for poorfags
Top kek
Very nice OP
what?
how would they ever benefit of something like this, i'm literally curious?
>>320384267
And iLiViD as well, can't wait for those adware viruses to pop up in ACNL
>>320384316
The entirety of the world will never act as civilized as they did on December 31st, 1999.
NAPSTER IS STILL ALIVE?!
Who the fuck would use their Wii u for music with its ultra non-responsive ui
>>320382067
Napster still exists?Holy shit
>>320383013
Make sure to cancel after the 3 months if you don't like it, they'll charge you anyway if you don't.
>>320384593
Well Napster at least would get slightly more exposure than before. I don't really see why people would use the WiiU for music when services like pandora exist
>>320382945
During those days of the internet it wasn't as relevant, even those old enough would have probably not been paying attention, especially if you were poor.
Like me.
>tfw no chance of a Napster Mii Fighter mask
What's the next deal for Nintendo? Myspace? Friendster? Second LifeU?
>>320382067
Fucking Napster. Nothing like waiting 5-10 minutes for a song to download and you better hope fucking nobody calls or causes your 56k to disconnect or you need to restart the download all over again.
The fact that programs after Napster had resume downloads made it better than it by far, but ill always remember that little cat icon the most.
>>320384848
>Well Napster at least would get slightly more exposure than before
that's an obvious one since i didn't even know napster was still relevant but what about nintendo, why'd THEY do it?
What's next, Limewire on the Vita?
uTorrent for Dreamcast?
Corel-Draw for the Surface?
Who /morpheus/ here?
>>320382945
I still only remember napster in its piracy form, I didn't even know it survived as a legit company.
I still remember getting what was practically CP on Kazaa and a bunch of viruses
>>320385729
soulseek nigga
>>320385451
>Corel-Draw for the Surface?
Are you telling me the surface can't even run corel?
>>320382067
Can't wait for the Real Media support and Netscape Navigator.
>>320387553
SS was¿is?great for rare albums
>>320383297
>ares
are you white
>>320382945
It's fucking depressing. These faggots will never know the pains of pirating shit back then.
>start download
>download hits 95%
>download speed hits 0.00kbps
>entire download cancelled
>>320387484
Yeah but you were a kid so it was all good.
I remember hearing like 10 years ago that Napster converted into a pay for music service but I figured it died out at some point after. Napster -> Kazaa -> Limewire -> Bitlord ->uTorrent
>>320387803
The Wii had opera
>listening to music
>2015
>>320388142
Hah yeah, you don't really think about that when you are 12 yourself. Not even when you are using terribly shitty cam-show apps to broadcast yourself to disgusting old fat men
I skipped bitlord I don't even know what I used before utorrent, its qbittorrent now for years though.
>>320385729
yep, everyone else used Kazaa. I was on forums for music via FTP and IRC for anime fansubs in 2001 before bittorrent made things a bit easier.
oh those were the days, I wish I could take a trip back to being 16....
>>320388418
All about the aol lesbian chatroom. A room of 100 13 year old boys posting the same picture that managed to load on google images.
>>320388647
Its extremely scary to think about what young kids must do today on the internet.
I had so much technical and bandwidth hurdles before me to do lewd things
In comparison now I can download 2 terrabytes of the sickest porn in 1080p hq in a day and instantly broadcast myself from my shittiest 6 year old smartphone on gigantic cam sites...
>>320382212
Wow, we really are getting old. Napster was before kazaa you donut
>>320389121
I think it's better this way. Now they just get it over with instead of having to think about it, or worry about someone walking in on them. Also means they don't fuck up their sleeping patterns by waiting for lower usage times.
>>320384916
Being poor was exactly Napster was successful at the time. Free music.
>>320389513
>get it over with
Somehow I doubt if I had the same access back then I'd have just "got it over with", more like fall into a pit instead of peering into it when I could.
>>320389121
Weirder fetishes and shit. Kids must jerk off like a hundred times a day now. Every kid has his own laptop or tablet so they don't have to worry about deleting their history or anything.
>>320389779
This really must affect their development into people, no wonder 14 year olds start calling themselves genderfluid when their porn escalation reaches my level over a decade earlier.
>>320389935
If I was still in college I would write a paper on this shit.
>>320389749
Do you not feel apathetic now? Young people just become apathetic faster, and so they have more time to seek out real normal relationships.
>>320389935
>>320390862
It's just media exposure. If you were at college a decade ago, you could of written the same shit paper.
>>320391282
I am - but I do not think this would've affected me the same way as an ignorant child.
>>320384096
congrats you're retarded. It has nothing to do with the fact only 80 year olds still use them either, you're just a dumb ass.
>>320384096
normie re

>>320391967

>search for 15 YO PRETEEN PEDO TEEN
>get some shit song in a zip
>>320389121
>Its extremely scary to think about what young kids must do today on the internet.
The fact that it had those hurdles is what made it so crazy, when they vanish it just becomes normal, mundane.
They'll just go to pornhub, jack it, and be done.
>>320392560
Meh, I don't believe that, curiosity doesn't just stop, and I've gotten into sicker stuff exactly as it became more and more available and easy to get.
>friend codes
>napster
How out of touch are nintendo?
Might as well support Netscape as the default browser. Seriously, why? Even if it now exists as a "legit" music store, it's waaaay past its prime.
mfw I am still using Direct Connect ++ right now
I also remember being on campus the year or so after Napster was invented down the street from my dorm. Good times.
Now kida playing their Nintendo WiiU will enjoy Weird Al's Combo #5 and House Of The Rising Son by The Doors.
>>320387810
Is. I use it all the time to download obscure flac.
>>320392693
Yes it does, you find any specific kinks you have and then you stick with them. I'd argue that kids are going to be less likely to develop those odd kinks because of the mass availability of more regular porn. Those with deeply ingrained fetishes will still seek it out, but those without will find they have enough relatively mundane stuff to jack it to forever and then just go get a life, obviously those that develop a porn addiction (or get REALLY into it) will dig deep. But most won't.
Lets be honest, you're on 4chan right now, you're not the norm.
>>320392560
> kids today will never know having to deal with waiting on dial up for three 5 meg .wmv files of Gauge you found on a small video gallery you saw off a tgp

>accidentally download Rhapsody - Emerald Sword
>Proceed to discover Symphonic Metal.
Fucking Napster was amazing, it was like a passport to everything. Even on 56k.
>ywn be on the verge of a new world like the technological revolution we've lived through so far.
>>320388438
why would you put a realdoll in a mcdonalds outfit?
WinAmp on the 3DS when?
>>320382463
are you me? I even zipped that song into multiple files so i could store the mp3 on five 3.5 inch floppy disks
I'm going to buy Napster for the nostalgia. Same reason I bought a Wii U.
Maybe I'll hook up a 56 k modem and download a eminem song that will take 2 days 4 hours and 37 minutes to complete. Then yell at it as it gets qued for an hour
>>320396357
you wish.
