Anyone else think the quality of the writing took a strange turn in this expansion? This character, the "comical" necromancy, mudslimes. It all seems out of place in the witcher world.
I guess you could say they downgraded the writing
havent played the game, but the wither universe always had other races, Gerald just mainly stayed in the "europe" of that world.
>>320373658
faustian stories always have that dark comedy going under the surface
>>320373658
Except for the moors, it is the most down to books adventure since chapter 4 in W1. Just Geralt getting knee deep in shit because of a contract, having to solve the case.
>>320374326
Too bad there wasn't more of the dragon worshipping swordmaidens in the game. They sounded hot in the books.
>>320373658
>mudslimes
They've been part of the Witcher Universe. This is just your first time seeing them.
>>320374574
the games take place like 20 years after that, or however old saskia is
>>320374837
The book made it sound like they were some sort of cult so it would not necessarily have to be the same two. Just saying I would have liked to have seen them.
>>320373658
I got bored of the expansion, I didn't find the story very engaging and le mysterious man got on my nerves
>>320373658
It's important to think of games not by a developer as a cohesive whole but as a bunch of people working in tandem. Usually, smaller divisions can be working on different parts of the map or different quests, and in this case, a subsection of devs did the DLC so it might not stick true to an overarching vision by a higher-up director. For example, J.E. Sawyer hardly did any work on the Old World Blues DLC but was more invested in Honest Hearts.
it was kinda weird how olgierd's family was a bunch of noble middle eastern bandits in the center of a medieval kingdom
>>320375870
Olgierd wasn't Middle Eastern. Just look at the guy.
As always, OP is a faggot.
I love Faustian stories.
>>320375971
nevermind his accent and garb as well as his family's saber. more persian than anything
>>320375870
Olgierd is as slav as you can be before the invention of the tracksuit.
Please, read a book or something.
The expansion was higher quality than base game.
Mirror guy was great antagonist, interesting and mysterious.
Mudslimes were a given since they had to give sjws Something or they go about muh soggy knee rampage
>>320376052
I don't read polack
>>320376045
>clothes and weapons determine your ethnicity
>>320376278
in a videogame, typically yes?
>>320376069
weren't they from Zerrikania?
>>320377218
No
Ofier
>>320376392
you're retarded.
>>320377218
Zerrikanian's are the "Africans" of the Witcher, the mudslimes are from Ofier.
>>320376392
So when I equip Geralt with pic related that makes him an Ofieri?
>>320377712
Damn nigga that's stylish as fuck
>>320376069
The sandniggers weren't just there to fill some SJW quota. They were actually relevant to the plot with the whole frog prince thing.
>>320378032
Only the prince guard.
The master shiller who robs your money for shitty weapon upgrades had no reason to exist.
>>320376045
>saber
>persian
>that haircut
>persian
>his clothes
>persian
Educate yourself for once in your life please.
Olgierd and his family were cossacks.
>>320378383
>>320375870
They were obviosuly based on cossacks.
>>320378514
Look, a persian gathering.
>>320378383
relevant
>>320378623
But yes, they were pretty out of place when the other nobles are like these generic western europeans
>>320378629
>>320378762
>>320378629
To be fair though, cossacks had some syrian, persian, osman and mongol influences over the ages.
by the way Olgreid mansion is in another country in game, it's outside of Novigrad or Temerian borders.

This expansion was closer to the spirit of the Witcher series actually. It took a lot of cues from fairy tales more than epic fantasy. And the mudslimes have always existed they just don't reference them much in the games or books because they aren't common visitors.
