The video game industry is pretty damn big, stop paying attention to entry level garbage, go deeper, explore your hobby, there are decades and millions of video games out there waiting for you, stop expecting someone else to point you what you should play, just pick a platform and start digging, good games continue to be made to this day, be them indie, flash games or AAA, but many of them fly under the radar because people like you are too busy focusing on fotm crap
Sometimes the best games come from unexpected sources, there is nothing wrong with enjoying a game everybody hates either because "fuck you, i like it"

Endless nickel-and-dime'ing via F2P models and DLC, games launched in an incomplete state because developers can simply patch bugs out post-factum or with content locked to a disc you've already paid for, publisher encroachment upon freedom and creativity of auter directors due to increased cost of modern development (strained largely by overblown advertising budgets and a massive focus on photorealistic graphics); all with the aim of pandering to and/or extracting the most money possible from a new consumerbase of lowest common-denominator shiteating morons.
Entire genres have died due to the overgrowth of bland pseudo-realistic military shooters, which have endured for over a decade to the detriment of the entire industry.
