Never played this before and don't have a pc or Xbox. Anyone play the ios of this? Would be using a 5s wondering if it's even playable. Hate the idea of my thumb covering the entire screen just to move a character or some bullshit. Should I just buy an Xbox?

Don't even bother. It's only playable on the 5,5" phones or bigger. Even then, I'd recommend a bluetooth controller.
But otherwise, the mobile ports are good. They run at 1080p/1440p and run well. The game isn't dumbed down for phones at all, it's the entire original game.
