Bought 598s from Amazon a couple weeks ago. Listened to like 10 songs out of them before putting them back in their box, getting a refund, and buying M50s.
598s sound pretty nice but if you like bass even in the slightest, prepare for massive disappointment. Also I did very little research cause I'm stupid, didn't know what open ear was or that these had them. Enjoy never listening to anything other than in a room by yourself, because everyone will hear the music. You also need them volume up insanely loud as they're very quiet.
No real disappointment with the M50s. The overall sound isn't quite as crisp as the 598s, I'll admit, but I like bass. I really like headphones that even practically vibrate so you can feel your music. M50s don't do that, but the bass is noticeably louder than the 598s so that's nice. Also they were only ~120 and the 598s were 160.

I use them for music production and vidya gaming, sound is good and bass is relatively good. The bass isn't muddy and overpowered like other headphones you find for around this price range. Also, don't believe the Sennheiser memes saying that they're tinny
