This is one of the big reasons. It's just not a fun environment where people can hang out anymore. Everything is tightly watched in order to not upset sponsors and advertisers, and the people in charge have been drinking the safe space kool-aid.

Ive been trying to speedrun mgs2 and 3 lately and i think its more fun than playing through normally.
The strategies used to get through each room quickly are really fun to pull off. I like speedrunning these and also the resident evil and megaman games because it's not just a glitch showcase. Watching someone run these isnt just them trying to clip through a wall every 10 minutes but just being really good at the game and doing it quickly.

Glitch speedruns are interesting, depending on the types of glitches used.
For example, the Sonic Unleashed speedrun done two years ago or so was entertaining, because that shit is not only fast, but it also shows how easily you can abuse the mechanics and break the game. It also showed how players found out new routes using background scenery etc. to skip over parts of levels. You still see most of the game, but it's cool to see them boost from the start to some random rock, drift off the side, and then land on the goal ring.
However, the Ocarina of Time speedruns, while interesting in how optimized it can be, is also slightly boring because they skip most of the game if they pull off a glitch correctly.
