How many hours do I have to put into this before I reach some level of comptency? Someone said I have to re-learn all the mechanics i've picked up form other FPS games.

I have a few Steam friends that keep inviting me to play and I ended up buying it during the steam sale. Never played a counter strike before
>>
aim at your oponent's feet for headshots
>>
Thousands
Just skip that game and play 50 other games for 20 hours instead, better investment of time
>>
Not to long to understand

Level the map designs and enemy route patterns, never crouch in a gunfire, don't forget to use smokes and flashes, and learn the spread patterns of all guns
>>
>>320319240

Probably a few hundred hours, helps if you watch/read up on some strategies and mechanics of the game.

Thanks guys, I honestly wanna get really good at an FPS and it seems there's no better one on the market (at least with such an intense difficulty curve).

I'll give it a go.
>>
>>320320204

I'd recommend watching WarOwl/JoshNissan/Adren's videos for tips and learning new shit.
>>
About 200 to be not complete shit.

Then like 500 to be reasonable.

Low sens + Not being a retard + Using mic = Easy ranks and easy wins.
>>
I'll just say that I have about 200ish hours of actually playing it (not counting like another 200 in menu) and have managed MG2 so far. I'm usually pretty shit at games, so, that might be an indication
>>
>>320321042
Thanks, that gives me a lot of hope. I don't exactly have the fastest reaction time but if it's mainly strategy and pro-active gameplay i should do go.
>>
>>320321042
Valve is apparently adjusting the ranks back to normal, so you might be deranking soon.
>>
>>320322656
Fuck really I was gonna be Supreme
>>
>>320322974
Well, technically, you weren't really going to be supreme if they've actually adjusted the ranks back to normal and you derank. Don't worry about it though, I didn't derank and neither did any of my friends on our first loss.
>>
>>320319240
it took me 2 or 300 before I considered myself good then after that you just keep getting better with less and less practice

>tfw the rifles and pistol nerfs got reversed

As for coming from other FPS's, the hardest thing for me was getting it in my head that I can't move and shoot. I'd constantly move a little while shooting because of previous habits.

Also learn the stutter step. I think Warowl on youtube has a good movement mechanic + stutter step tutorial.
>>
My aim sucks and I got to LE in 300 hours by almost entirely having game sense. Watch some good cs content on youtube, get basic spray patterns down and learn some good smokes and flashes for the maps. Then just use your brain and position yourself in an advantageous way.

Also communicate with your team and trust their calls and execute on pushing a site.
Don't be shy about telling your team what to do. If you see the other team doing something every round, tell your team to how to counter it.Half of the players are kids and idiots so might as well be the guy who steps up as the leader.
>>
Took me around 200-250 hours to reach MGE.

1. Turn mouse sensitivity to the lowest.
2. Turn off mouse acceleration
3. When you shoot, STOP MOVING, and learn spray patterns for your main rifles.
4. Learn the map
5. Learn where/how to smoke/flash/nade
6. Deathmatch for practicing aim (don't worry about your K/D, just practice aim).

Basically you just have to learn to deal with super low mouse sensitivity so you can aim directly on those tiny little heads from far away, and then learn spray patterns, and learn not to move while shooting.

So yeah its a lot of mechanics to relearn but you should reach MG status < 50 - 100 hrs

>No skill based system in placing games

Gee I really love getting butt blasted by lvl.30+ players in fucking causal mode....its been 8 years and they still haven't figured this out yet?
>>
>>320325947
they need to add a 5v5 unranked mode.

I get way too stressed when I go into comp games and sometimes I just wanna chill after work. 10v10 in casual isn't the same.
>>
>>320325947
Nobody who is halfway decent at the game plays casual..

Play Demolition...

if you want to have fun just buy bf4
i sucked ass at the game on the first day but i got used to it pretty quickly
it's not a jew game anymore, 3 cool free map packs, one which released yesterday and is fresh as fuck
it's really fun, the graphics are good and the maps are great, and they finally fixed the netcode.

I have CSGO too but i don't play it, it's just skin bait crashgrab for me and the community is wone of the worst out there. I dunno man, it just isn't fun at all

250 hours and just reached global elite.
But I've got a lot of competitive game experience so it didn't take me too long.

>every shitter on the fucking planet collectively shit themselves
>reddit fucking explodes into a shitstorm of whining and complaining
>the change only affected shitters who sprayed all the fucking time
>valve reverts the change to weapon spread
>every shitter on the planet stops crying and starts acting like they caused valve to see the error of their ways
I FUCKING HATE THE PEOPLE WHO PLAY THIS FUCKING GAME

at about 700 i had gun mastery and it just was a test to see how jewy i could get

this was from no previous pc fps's tho
>>
I don't understand what is hard about CS for casuals, I'm SMFC and I barely play it (700 hours). I was brought up on TFC/Quake and CS was always my off-game. I play CSGO these days because MM makes mixes really easy.

I bet you "boycotted" the game for adding the revolver.
