Snake couldn't most likely due to Konami shit and I feel like they're saving Inkling for Smash 5 no matter what. Ridley is already in the game as a stage boss.
The one thing i'm dubious on is Bayonetta beating K. Rool with how much fervor I saw for him early on, but that could've just been them being the most vocal.
Do I think Sakurai may have overlooked some results to make the character he wanted? Yes. But I don't find Bayonetta placing high on all the polls that far fetched either.
