In the PC version, Magic block actually works, though it's not that important. It doesn't really matter which version you play.
Just keep in mind that Yuffie and Vincent are optional characters but Yuffie is best girl so definitely get her.

The PS4 version is literally the PC enhanced version, on PS4. They are the same fucking game, no differences whatsoever, aside from the PC version having a cheat program and mod support.

I'm currently playing the Steam version and it is good.
It used to suck but then they patched the awful midi sountrack with the original soundtrack.
FFVIII unfortunately did not get patched so if you decide to get that too, get the mod that replaces the soundtrack.
Op here, thanks everyone. Since both versions are exactly the same I just got the Steam version because it's cheaper. PS4 version comes with a very pretty theme, but I don't really care about the homescreen. XMB on PS3 was much better.

Well maybe it's worse than I thought, 15 FPS is probably noticeable in battles, so maybe I shouldn't have said that.
PS4 version also has 'cheats' in it.
Press L3 to speed up gameplay x3
Press R3 for god mode (limit bar constantly goes up, your health and MP constantly recharge)
Press L3+R3 for no encounters
I'm surprised they let you use them from the get go, and how easily accessible they are. It doesn't even affect trophies either.
Since I've already beat FF7 countless times I went with my first playthrough using these (god mode only when I can't be bothered grinding). It's pretty great actually, the speed up cheat is so fucking helpful.

Just a warning, the PC version doesn't work well with a 360 controller. Half of the inputs don't work and the buttons are mapped wrong by default.

You can remap them, no? That's how I'm playing, the button placement is bullshit for some buttons, but you get used to them, it's not an action game so it doesnt matter much.

Some buttons are straight up inoperable. LT and RT does not work at all, and the game won't detect them.

They didn't catch all the errors. I don't think they ever fix Barret's "You still ain't over it yet." when Tifa woke up from her coma and asked about Sephiroth. Barret actually said "Looks like he hasn't revived yet." I know I noticed other errors before too aside from the ones that everyone knows, I just don't remember what they are.
