it failed because he didn't know what he was doing, didn't know what he actually wanted, and didn't know how to properly implement the things he wanted to implement.
he himself stated he took inspiration from fucking GTA, he said how he was fascinated with its open world, and what did i fucking get? a huge barren desert/tundra with nothing to do in it.
he implemented generic game mechanics from western franchises that rehash content yearly, mainly Far cry and Ass creed. I ended up with road outposts with respawning guards, a stick-to-cover-to-regen-health mechanic, a facebook minigame, a tutorial that lasts up until the last level... the list is too fucking long.
