I installed a better lighting mod to FO3 once
At night it was so dark you couldn't see anything without a light source.
Super Mutants can see in the dark.

This is the problem with most visual mods. They always go way overboard. Like nevada skies for new vegas, it was always pitch black as if there was no such thing as moonlight. Even heavily lit areas like the strip or freeside you can't see shit.

When you get properly dark nights, you can't do shit. Put a proper night mod on an open world game and you'll have to either skip nights or use some equipment so you can see in the dark.

In reality, your eyes adjust to darkness. In a game, your characters eyes won't adjust. The nights are brighter to suggest you have adjusted to the low light and can see better.

It also shouldn't be hard to simulate your eyes slowly adjusting to darkness

How about weather in video games general? I do think that STALKER has just about the best nights you're going to get in a video game unless you install dark nights mod in which case you won't be able to see anything. Oh wait - in terms of darkness Tomb of Giants was amazing, proper way to do it.

Best rain: ... any game where it has additional effect, slickness or something that isn't a racing game?

I mean, STALKER's best feature is it's weather/anomaly system, you can feel the air around you as you play, it has depth and thickness to it, you're aware of its voluminosity, mainly due to anomalies being there to suck you in if you don't watch the air itself instead of just your surroundings. It's one of the most underrated and most important feats a video game or any piece of medium has ever done. They designed something that is seemingly invisible and used to be disregarded.

The ps3 framerate would be ok, my rig is slightly better than average ps3. I'm still pissed I couldn't play MGS 5 given it was on ps3 as well. Then again it is a shit game.
