This is it right here. Old Fallout gets praised for having more roleplay options, but here, we see that it's no different. Unless you put points into very specific attributes, you WILL die to the ants in this area, every time. So, shit roleplaying just as bad as Skyrim or Fallout 4. Oh, and it also looks like ass on top of that

You require absolutely nothing in that temple. There is nothing there that will help you or save you.
Blitz through the doors, ignore everything and everyone until you get to the end. When the guy asks to fight, don't engage- you can either lockpick the door, steal the key from him and then use it on the door, or suffer no penalty at all if you walk up to him and engage in combat first- this means you will have the distinct advantage of going first and landing at least one melee attack.
Those are just three alternate ways of beating it without actually killing all the monsters/honorably fighting that guy at the end.

3 out of 5 of my last builds were one-handed pistol based builds based around small frame and quick shot and I have cleared the temple via lockpick/theft/attacking first instead of via dialogue every single time. Then the game just pukes potential XP for you based around your starting SPECIALS, there's at least one way to gain some bonus XP for each of your SPECIALs.

Agility is the one SPECIAL stat that will make your character completely useless if you don't properly invest into it.

No it's not. Agility is overrated as FUCK. It can be boosted in game so easily that it's completely irrelevant what your agility is at the beginning. The only time it matters is in random encounters for the first two turns.
