When I played eve there was no sense of progression. Once you got the ship you wanted, that was it. You were done. You had no where to go but down. Money became irrelevant and doing content was irrelevant because you leveled up just by having an active account. There was literally no reason to play the game

Any game needs a sense of progression to be good. I made a salvager, bebopped around faction warzone areas and salvaged wrecks. Lost a few ships, made some cash.
But there was no reason for me to keep doing it. money became useless because I already had the ship I wanted. Leveling up became useless because I had all the skills I needed. Its not a theme park issue, its a progression issue.

I'm curious what your experiences of EVE were?
I'm a member of a nullsec alliance and I find plenty of reasons to want to do stuff. First I need to make ISK to fund my PVP stuff. As for the PVP, it's fun to band together to dick over our space neighbours. Sometimes it's cool to get a cloaky ship, infiltrate enemy space and catch a blinged ratting ship with its pants down. There are times when it's fun to fit a solo-PVP battlecruiser and roam lowsec looking for anyone to challenge. And you can't forget the simple joy of ganking some highsec pubbie for no reason other than to see him cry about it in local.
If you thought the objective of the game is to get a shiny ship then I can see why you didn't enjoy it much. It's what you do with the ships that counts.
The new Eve patch is pretty dope, HICs are super fun now, otherwise I've been enjoying the fuck outta Rainbow Six: Siege, while everyone else is complaining about the pricetag.

Thats why eve is a different beast, because its a sandbox, and not necessarily a straight line. Yes there are progressions to be reached, believe me I have 200 million skillpoints already. Getting a ship is not an endgame goal, only if you make it so.

salvaging is something nubs do to get enough isk for their first shitfit cruiser, so they can lose it to a gatecamp minutes after undocking it for the first time. If you want a sense of progression then pick a goal worth achieving.

Oh I'm aware salvaging was by far the least profitable thing I could be doing. but it was also the most engaging thing. Scanning down mission runners, those close calls when scooping up drones and wrecks in pvp hot spots. Bouncing over to where a huge fucking war just broke out. I wasn't rich, but it beats the hell out of mining, or ferrying shit around or sitting at menus all day trading. But there was no shiny thing for me to work towards, thus no reason for me to keep making money save to replace the ships I'd occasionally lose

You could try graduating from salvager to ganker. Instead of scanning down mission runners and picking up their scraps, you could scan them down, kill them and take both their loot and their modules.
Nothing gets my heart racing quite like winning a fight while deep in structure.

Byzatines in Civ 5 are SHIT other than their coastal bias. They're meant to be a militaristic state, but their UA doesn't really benefit that since they have to go liberty to get a religion or get a natural wonder on any of the higher difficulty games.
Their cataphracts are meh, they're like weaker swordsmen that can move a bit faster.
Dromon can give you a bit stronger of a push onto coastal cities since they're triremes with range attack, but their reduced strength means they're easier to sink so they're anti ship only. Comp bows are better for an early rush since they can benefit from defensive terrain

Depends really, there's a couple of good ones that can get an early religion, which is usually dependent on having a faith producing UA or UB that produces faith like the Ethiopian Steles, Bootyica, etc. Not that it should hold you back, I have had an amazing time going ICS persia Liberty-Piety before and rekting my neighbors with my big powerful persian bird religion.
