Not all greenlight games are bad, some of them are doing pretty good and despite its flaws DayZ is still a popular and highly played game.
Ark Survival is also doing really well, there are a few other greenlight games that are doing well.
Squad has been in alpha for a long time outside of Steam. It is now on greenlight and is being made by the people behind project reality which is one of the most successful mods for BF2.

They are literally designed around the idea that some guys will play it on Youtube and that they will edit out a hours of worthless, unenjoyable shit and just stitch up the interesting parts to make a 30 minute video.
Those games require hours, some even days to have any fucking progress. They seem interesting when you watch a video because it condensed a day of work into 30 minutes so you see progress. But when you play it, it's a chore.
It's designed to look good in a LP, give Youtuber some video material and hits while at the same time baiting people into buying them with misleading progression.

Also there have been a few games that went into early access like they should have, ie with a game that's almost complete but just needs a little bit more funding to be good, and they released their games after a pretty reasonable amount of time.
