What? It's completely the opposite, anon. It's extremely weird to see such dark themes in a video game and added to that the general weird vibe you get from the town and its citizens. The later part in the Lodge is just retarded and turbo edgy without the spooky charm of the town.

Also, you don't "respawn". You can't die so you feel all the things happening to you, constantly; "friendly" ghost just reassembles you everytime and wipes your memory about the pain so you don't break. The memories all come flooding back once you defeat him, too.

I thought that the story of Amnesia was a bit messed up.
I did really dig the fact that the reason the protag had amnesia is because he had to forget the things he had done to be able to have the willpower to stop the lord of the castle and not just kill himself.
