Is /v/ ready for another Vanillaware classic?
I remember dropping this game like a hot garbage when i understood how primitive, slow and boring combat system is.
Leifthrasir seems to improve it at least to the level of Muramasa though, so i will probably get it. The art in the game is just magical.
I'm hype. Enjoyed the original and a full remake sounds awesome.

I've said it before, but the new covert art manages to be inferior in nearly every single way to the original. Colors too blue, fleeing proportions, and lost the fairy tale storybook image.
It reminds me of the cloud comparison, in fact.
Hopefully they added more variety to the enemies and bosses and didn't just change the combat system. Fighting the exact same enemies for 5 playthroughs isn't exactly fun

It was a good game with shit camera and controls (arguable, I rolled Cornelius Hard no level ups on my first try without any problems). I hope it turns out well so Muramasa babbies would shut the fuck up about their shit game.

It wasn't slow, but it sure as fuck was primitive and repetitive. What do you even do aside from a basic attack->skill loop? That's as barebones as an action game can get. The swords' skills are the most unsatisfying shit ever as you simply press a button, and the invincibility trivializes the game so hard you're probably better off not actually using them. OS at least had the item mixing/tossing and characters that play differently enough from each other. Muramasa was total shit until the DLCs, now if you said the DLC chapters were good I might agree, but the vanilla game can go suck a dick.

Looks like they didn't balance the enemies around the new combat system. They are just as slow and clunky as they originally were yet your character is much faster

That new combat looks braindead as fuck, especially with enemies still being slow. Nobody asked you to literally turn Gwendolyn into Momohime. The problem with the old combat wasn't the speed OR even the stamina (lategame shit will overwhelm you before you can even drain your gauge). It's the fucking inertia that needs to go. That's all.
What even happened to the psypher absorption? Knowing when to absorb and when to stop are part of the fun, now everything seems to just fly to your face, at least when you're close to them.
And who the fuck even needs a dodge in this game? Learn to not mash buttons like a retard when the unicorn jumps.
The original is my favourite Vanillaware game even though it's flawed as all fuck and probably objectively worse than Muramasa/Dragon's Crown, so I'm hype. The changes to the combat look cool as hell. And a better translation will be nice too.
I have the Storybook Edition preordered because I love the game so much, and I never buy CEs.

I'd recommend it. You may not be able to find too many people online depending on the time of day but I got a lot of offline play out of it too. If you like the old beat em ups it's based on definitely pick it up.
