So why do people watch these people play games? this dude right here sounds like he's bored as shit and apparently he's not even that good so why even watch it? I cannot fathom why 29 thousand people watch this.

A lot of the streams I "watch" are basically just background noise while I do something else.
>>
>>320221604
Because that young generation of people is a bunch of retards who have no friends but want to pretend they do, so they just find some popular twitch channel to hang out in and spam memes all day while feeling as if they "belong" to some kind of group

Whenever I see a guy with a twitch hoodie out in public I laugh because it's some pimple faced 15 year old
>>
>>320221604

I honestly cannot imagine anyone just sitting there and watching a stream for an entire day, or however long the streamer is online

Kripparian is one of the best Hearthstone players on the planet and regularly gets 12 win arena runs, which is 100% win rate. I watch Hearthstone streams and find them relaxing, especially putting them on in the background and doing work or something else.

Congratulations on your successful shitpost
>>
>>320221604
I don't understand why people go apeshit over sodapoppin.

Not funny

Bad at games

No personality

He does quite literally nothing and still gets 20k views.
>>
>>320221604
Only streamer I watch is actually Day9, and that is mostly because he is fun to listen to and sometimes goes on interesting tangents when talking.

Some of these guys who do it day in day out like Kripp are just slowly dying inside.
>>
A good majority of streamers are annoying and have stupid catchphrases they yell out and dumb voices they do to be like Pewdiepie and Markiplier. Some are cool to watch though.

Like Trihex.
>>
>>320222752
Me neither. I have only watched him once. He was throwing thousands of dollars in some online casino
>>
reynad is the only good hearthstone streamer.

don't know why you would watch anyone else
>>
>>320222752
I figure it must be kids, I love WoW and I can't bring myself to watch him for more than 5 minutes. There is actually no current WoW streamer that isn't intolerably obnoxious to watch. It's either Sodapoppin or a million other dull as fuck arena streams.

>>
I like Kripp a lot. I'm watching his youtube now that he went to bed early.
>>
Kripp was pretty popular before hearthstone came out. He had shitloads of viewers from his youtube from WoW guides and stuff and when Diablo 3 came out his popularity blew up because he minmaxed the shit out of that game. Now transition that viewerbase to a more popular game and it's no wonder he is one of the more popular streamers.

I watched him once because I wanted to see some gameplay of Vermintide and that faggot was just streaming the new star wars trailer and talking about it

>>
I watch some pros just top see how/why they do things/their mindset when playing. Mostly though I have a stream on mute to watch when I am dead in game though.
>>
>>320222752
People that usually watch streams are usually in search of a "surrogate friend".

Now count that Sodapoppin was one of the most famous streamers when the whole streaming thing started, and after all of this years people feel a "connection" with him as he was their real friend and don't want to watch someone else to start all over.

They see him grow from adolecent to man and feel like at home at his stream since they spent aleready years watching him.

It's a sad reality but it exists.

It's because the world is full of bland and vapid people. All the quiet ordinary and boring people you go to/ went to school with. The people who never create ideas or experiences. The kind of people who constantly turn their phone or laptop toward you and giggle and say "haha look at this!" even though its just a slight variation of the stupid shit she showed you five minutes ago.

God, my gf is boring as fuck.

I like kripparrian because he just seems like an honest guy. He doesn't beg for donations. He doesn't do a bunch of degrading self promotion bullshit. He doesn't try too hard to be funny. He just casually plays games, and sometimes says something smart.
>>
>>320226652
You may call these guys idiots, but the successful ones (like Kripp) are making hundreds of thousands of dollars are years in sub fees alone, aside from Youtube money, merchandising, appearances at game conferences, etc and they get to set their own hours, have pretty easy work (playing games is not taxing). I'd love a job like that.

I think it's mostly because people tend to want to be around me. I'm constantly uplifting, I listen to people, I always have something going on at my place. I encourage my friends to talk and joke about shitty TV and movies while we watch. I'm loud and joke lots at parties.

It might sound conceited, but I'm a pretty fun guy. I don't care about gossip and shit, I never see what "you" posted on Facebook.

I just lurk here at work when I'm expecting some gaming news. Tonight, for example, some smash leaks would've been cool.
>>
>>320227000
>I'd love a job like that.
Same here. Gonna make a spartan attempt at getting back into it starting next month if my PC upgrades are enough to get a solid quality.
Worst case I fail and never go anywhere with it, but I've gotta try.
>>
>>320221604
Kripp's an OK streamer because he just plays to do shit and doesn't go MLG facehunter zoolock whatever the meta is . He just tries shit that sounds fun.

He's also good at making the best of his hands.
>>
Forsen and ReyMAD are literally the only streamers that are okay to watch.

Any other answer is irrelevant.
>>
>>320227629
I work from home currently doing programming, and that's pretty nice, but it's also can be pretty hard work. Game streaming seems way more fun, but I think you have to have a pretty magnetic personality to pull it off. Also months of patience (and money set aside to live) to get people watching your channel.
>>
Also, I do like to watch Fighting Game streams. I like fighting games, and its almost like watching sports. Almost. Because we all know competitive gaming isn't sports.
>>
>>320227839
>that week when reynad tried to hit on mira

It was like watching a 11 year old trying to hit on a hot 16 year old girl.
>>
>>320221604
Lmao I saw that stream earlier. He bitched for an hour because he hasn't gotten a Consecrate since October in arena. He also went on a 2 minute rant the other day about how he rarely picks Mage in arena, after both being the frontrunner for not picking Mage because "it's too easy" and then does nothing but pick Mage every time it's available.

It's mainly for background noise, but it has become really obnoxious the past several months. He doesn't sound like he's enjoying Hearthstone at all, and the stream continues to rapidly decline in quality, yet it's baffling he gets 30k viewers and constant subs. Really sucks because his PoE content was really enjoyable.

I'm pretty patient. So long as I get a couple of people around to give me stuff to talk about, I'm happy.
>(and money set aside to live)
Eh, only if you intend to have an immediate strict schedule. Honestly, if I do start to get any income from it, it'd go towards making the stream better before I think about making the dive into using it for sustaining my living situation.

>>
>>320228123
It's hard to explain but it's alot easier to just filter out and makes you feel less alone when it's just playing in the background while you're dicking around on the internet. With music there's a bit of a fatigue that can come from it and real sense of loneliness but that's just as nice at other times too.
I personally like having a movie or something on my second monitor so I can keep myself from getting depressed.
>>
>>320228809

Kripp is a "hardcore" gamer. Used to watch him a lot back when he played Diablo 3 and POE. Sadly he's stuck playing the most casual game of the decade because that's what his fans want. I feel bad for the dude. At least he has a girlfriend now.

Well its the other way around for me. Too much sounds from different direction makes me feel uneasy because i'm an aspie bipolar fuck. Any way i feel as if i'm a bitter old man when i see these threads and people discussing their favorite Ecelebs or what ever they are called. Maybe it actually triggers me. because they consider them "content artist" as though they are putting forth any real creative effort to sit in front of a camera and play games and people all flock to watch them and they get millions of hits for Youtube. Meanwhile i'm writing music, doing some remixes and attempting some animation and here my shit gets like 300 views at max.. consider me BTFO i guess.

Being an entertainer is a real skill. Maybe not as creative as being a musician, but still a skill. Also half of being a musician is being around long enough for people to remember and recognize you. I'm sure you'll be successful eventually.
