Pretty much any RTS game.
I can't micro for shit. I can't remember all the hotkeys or I just outright miss the button. And the multi tasking is ridiculous. I have no fucking clue how someone can pay attention and keep track of all that shit, switching back and forth between units and moving your camera all over the map. Economy, the meta, remembering every attribute for each building and unit, I can never compete online.
I'm very good at most other games naturally, and I fucking love RTS. I appreciate it so much and yet I basically start to panic at mid game.
That's why I always love the early part of RTS, where everything is kind of slower and even paced.
I'd tray any other vidya skill just to be good at RTS.

The rifles have higher bullet deviation at a distance, nothing about spraying was changed for medium/short range distances. The game is not any more literal RNG now as it was in 1.6. No need to get so worked up! I stopped playing match making after I got myself to Nova III, and started doing Deathmatch, sometimes FaceIt with couple of friends who were Supreme before the notorious Banwave. Those guys taught me gamesense, some cool smokes, popflashing, and gave me movement tutorials, I quickly rose to DMG, and war naturally promoted to LE after the wave. I got just overv 750 hours of CS GO, but after the initial tutoring, I never really got into improving on my own, so I have stayed eagle for a long ass time. Usually I play cs now to unwind for stress and work.

I'm just saying that improving isn't impossible, but grinding matchmaking is surely NOT the way to go :I

I felt like a god playing counter strike back in 06 so i recently tried cs go and got creamed every single fucking game. I think i lost the magic and im also way less willing to try and learn a new game enough to be that good at it.

Thats one reason i have sort of switched to single player games/multiplayer sandbox games. They are less about mad skills and more about just goofing off and having fun
Im getting more and more biased against e-sport games as i get older because they have the most cancerous communities and are stressful to play, especially team oriented ones. I guess im devolving into a casual.
>>
>>320198343
>Play against better players?
You don't get better by getting matched up exclusively with high-level players.

>forums
Oh, you mean communities for experienced players? I'm sure I'll find new players there!

>practice combos in training mode
Not only is that useless for practicing against AI, but even if you enable the AI in there all you'll be learning is how to exploit the AI.

Wow, you sure helped me with fighting games!
>>
>>320195154
It's really still fun with a guide, the puzzles are certainly part of the game but the combats and atmosphere are good enough to still be a really fun game.

If you were decent at the game you'd rape and rank up, its really as simple as that. You aren't good. People don't get to GE on accident. People don't stay MG2 on accident. I'm willing to bet the reason you stayed MG2 so long as well is your fucking ego and refusing to accept you're a garbage player. How can you improve when you just blame your team?

You typed up this entire post instead of learning how to play. You think you're the only person in the world thats new to fighting games and trying to learn? You think everyone that got good at fighting games did it by drinking a fucking magic potion or something?

I mean it really speaks volumes about your ability if you think practice mode is useless. The best players in the game drill themselves for literal fucking hours in practice mode, learning combos. But you're right its totally useless for improving as a player all those people better than you are fucking IDIOTS for using practice mode lol!

Rust.

to be honest i hate the building system. the toolbox stuff always fucked me over. it does not seem very intuitive. People can just build near your base to get on your roof then get easier access to your stuff or blow a whole in your wall to your toolbox then give themselves access and completely fuck you up by building shit on your base. Felt like the game was punishing me for wanting to make a big base and i couldnt get the toolboxes to make my bases cheese proof without having like 10 of them in nearly every outside room on my ground floor and people only need to reach one to ruin your day.

KoF isn't difficult, it is easier to learn than Street Fighter is, it's just that the fundamentals take longer to learn so the first hurdle is a lot harder. However, beyond that KoF(Whichever one you're talking about) is a simpler game to play than SF4, with more universal options and mechanics between characters and generally it is a LOT easier to learn a character than SF, where every character functions pretty radically differently. Execution is generally straightforward as well once you understand the way to do things, KoF13 in particular has a lot of lesser known tricks that make execution a lot easier.

I'm a reasonably decent KoF13 tournament player so if you have any questions about that I'd be happy to help

Fundamentals are key in fighters but it's not like you will get those without playing for hundreds of hours either.

So yeah, just drop them to be honest

Memorizing things isn't the issue, it's execution.

>>320210386
That's the thing, I get the basics and that sort of thing quickly, I'm just really bad at execution.
>>
Pretty much any sort of fighting game.

Fighting games.

I'm surprised how people are struggling with dorf fortress tho.

In DF you have to learn things once and there are tons of guides. You have time do plan ahead and no stress.

A combo input in a fighting game can't be learned by just reading a wiki guide. You have to do it over and over and over again until you stop thinking about it . And everything is stressful and the action just goes over ny head

Guess I'm more the boring kind of player.

No, it's not.
Everyone seems to think "Oh yeah i totally know the range of my cr.mk so I'm decent at fighters now!".

Execution is a lot easier to learn that -actually- playing footsies, I can honestly say that I haven't even remotely been playing footsies until I played for around 1200-1500hours and I was terrible at it for a long time.

>until I played for around 1200-1500hours
holy shit
>it takes as much time to git gud at fighters as it takes to learn a language
>>

I can speak 4 languages fluently and I think it's a very different thing.
Kudos to anyone that enjoys learning a language as much as me playing a fighting game but it's not like I didn't have fun in the process.

But yeah, the only people I know are better than me for a fact have played thousands of hours more than me.

You're completely misunderstanding me.
I can understand what you're SUPPOSED to do in action, but actually doing that action I'm fucking terrible at.

I am pretty decent at SF, MAHVEL, Tekken etc, but I cannot into any of the Smash games. All of my casual friends kick my ass at it, and I have no idea what I'm not doing that they are.

Arumba is an idiot
>>

That's slightly better but still not true.
Same thing, you don't truly understand what's going on when two good players play each other.

Sure you can understand the basic gameplay but /v/'s lack of knowledge in fighting games is very apparent regardless of execution anyways.

Almost no one on /v/ will even understand basic safejump-setplay in sf4 but still rip on it for being anti-fun and worst of all, braindead.

But it's okay, casuals have won and SFV is barebones, not like they'll be any better at that game but pro's will be stuck with a less complex game because it's "honest".
>>
>>320212926
I'm not really sure that this is even against what you're saying but the safejump/setplay in SF4 WAS too strong and it was a good decision to move away from that in SF5

Fighters.
Those games just dont click for me like everything else. Real shame too, most "pop culture turn video game" stuff ends up in the fighter genre.

It was too strong if you consider knockdown mixups in general a bad thing.

They have never been stronger than a 50/50 aside from unblockables which have been largely patched out or become unreliable through DWU.

It's nothing more than most players knowing all of their options and what's going to happen in which scenario, there is no huge difference between a regular meaty/throw/commandthrow mixup like in SFV or setplay in sf4.
The difference is the barrier of entry and the complexity, where SF4 was
>A>B/C, B>C/D, C>B,E...
SFV will be
>A>B>C>A
It's literally dumbed down, not even mentioning that zoning is basically removed from the game in it's current state.
