I despise touchscreen controls. They are fine for pinch zoom and scrolling, but pressing fake onscreen buttons is sluggish and imprecise. No way there will be serious action games on a console with no real physical buttons.

Well, Nintendo IS ordering the LCDs described in the patent and using them for something, so this one actually warrants some hypothesizing.
For all we know it could be one of their quality-of-life ventures instead of something related to video games.

What nintendo fails to realize, if this really is their goal, is that people are 100% content to use knockoff versions of their games and either don't know it's a knockoff or don't care. If you can get sidescrollers or racers or puzzle games on your iphone, there needs to be a ton of incentive for normalshits to go buy a nintendo console to play that stuff.
