I haven't played many Tales (its actually my first from last gen) but I prefer having vocals in my intros. Abyss and Legendia didn't have vocals, boring as hell but at least Abyss was worth playing.

The Professor Layton games have nice anime cutscenes. They're on DS and 3DS.
The Disgaea games are very japanese. You can play 'em on PS2, PSP, PS3, Vita and PS4.
Persona 3 has anime cutscenes and a light date sim element on top of the JRPG base. Highly suggested as well, and you can play it on PS2, PSP, PS3 and Vita as well.
