If you have more friends on Xbox then go Xbox. This was one of the reasons I sold my PS4 plus Live is better than PSN in every aspect. The controller is also objectively better. Sony fans like to highlight the difference of multiplats but they are more negligible than last gen and unless comparing them side by side on a 55" or larger display you won't even notice.
Also backwards compatibility. And better media capability. The TV tuner adapter is quite nice and next year it's getting DVR

The Crew can live up to the fun of Horizon, but I recommend both. Horizon has WAY better car selection, but The Crew has a better open world by far. Forza 6 is for diehards of Forza and love sick tracks. I don't recommend it to most honestly, tho it's fucking gorgious and I love my copy, but seriously know what you're getting into it's brutal compared to Horizon.
Hell I even enjoyed MK8 and FRNeo on the WiiU. Don't own a PS4, so no perspective there. I think it has the crew also. Check out what the Ps4 has to offer on google.
I do recommend the bone tho for Forza if you really like racing games.

Dead Rising 3 is pretty bad on a technical level though, legitimately looks like a 360 game, is only 720p, and still has performance issues.

Cheap i5 or even an i3 and a 2GB card would play just about anything on at least low/medium and get better performance than a console.
