Well worth 20 bucks. I got it at launch (for ps4) and i play it all the time. Its not a good binge game like a AAA title but its great for quick fun when your bored.

They even admitted they fucked the controls on purpose because it was too easy otherwise.
So instead of actually making the game harder with more spawns, better AI etc they cripple controls to make it less intuitive.

Your crosshair dissapers and resets every time you move.
That means you have to "resync" your hand can crosshair every time.
You have to aim with WADS and then again with mouse after pressing the aim button.
I don't know a single topdown shooter which does this in such a backwards way.

WASD moves character, Character will look where your mouse cursor is. Cross hair appears when holding right click to aim. Otherwise shooting is like hip firing.
Character rotation is delayed like it is on Playstation since its just how the game was designed (team work, a sense of being overwhelmed as enemies come from all side).

Been playing M+KB and personally have no issue with it; even with the cursor being invisible until aiming, its not hard to maintain your perspective and sense of where your cursor is, given your character looks in that direction.

But i also found dark souls best played on M+KB with a Naga, wouldn't have it any other way.

Pirated it and jumped through more loops than I care to name trying to get it to work with friends with steamemu. We finally got it to work but teamkilling is a pain in the ass. Since me and my buds are all people who exclusively play FPS the camera is disorienting as fuck because its zoomed in so close.

Its fun and the team killing can be hilarious at times but the zoom level makes it really annoying.

Only the tanto is op and only in the sense that its a very good allrounder good for almost any mission if you havent got a specific plan. Its not the most powerful nor does it have the range or special ammo that the other guns have.

Op strats are the motar launcher and the tank buster grenade, though both are still not as goid as the recoilless rifle with a good reloader friend.

Game is fun, but after the first day I played it the multiplayer just stopped working. It takes forever to join in, freezes, and then either dumps me to the main menu with "connection has been lost" or spends a minute migrating hosts and then doing the same thing. What gives? I've been using mpcg for quite a while now and all their games work incredibly well, the other thing you can use is tunngle or Evolve (I recommend Evolve) if the game has virtual LAN.

can you explain to me how magicka is supposed to work with 4 players? there's just so much shit flying around the screen between me and my friend, i couldn't imagine playing with two more. helldivers is a bit less busy, so 4-player coop tends to work very well.

its designed to not be a serious game, with a goal of creating fun through chaos. As i'm sure you've already realizd Magicka allows for many combinations of elements and casting styles to create various spells. In multiplayer this can allow for players to all use 1 spell, such as a beam and have it combine, or conflicting spells that create explosions or other devastating effects. It also lets you combo different abilities and use teamwork, such as having 1 player soak a monster, the other freeze the wet mob with cold, then have a third player launch a boulder to shatter or cause significant damage.

Its just a hodgepodge of disorganized fun as you go around this little world, collecting new spells and stuff and following a story.

This is a terrible way for WADS since it only has 8 positions.
Having a cursor at all times on screen and the charatcer turning there when you press aim would be the more natural solution.

Because people would right click, then immediately left click to start shooting.
The character swings around and shoots the whole time, because of the delayed turn.
Teammates get sprayed with fire.
I would understand an option if it was a visibility thing like hints, but it's really more of a game mechanic.

Yeah, on hard levels tanks spawn all the time and immediately after one is taken out so there is just no way to keep up. Dealing with immediate threats and running away is usually the best option on hell dive missions but the mech is slow as fuck so its easilly overrun.

yes it does, and controller is still worse than KB+M, because even though you have to wait for player animations to aim where you want, it's still more precise and smoother than using a controller.

If you've got the Mech with the cannon, they oneshot their tanks. The disposable rockets don't last long (disposable) and the Carl G lookalike requires stationary and/or teamate reloading.

It isn't a bad system. I like the AS system, but it was a different system for a different game. I wouldn't want AS for Helldivers, and I wouldn't want Helldivers for AS.
Neither system is better. You might like them differently, but that doesn't mean they should be the same.
