FNAF is more than just jumpscares, though. The atmosphere and having to keep track of everything causes uneasiness and tension, which is what makes the jumpscares work. Remember that FNAF isn't just random jumpscares, they're the price you pay for failure or making a mistake, if you're good or lucky you can go the entire game without getting one, but you're still going to get tense and jumpy from the ambient noises, the music, and the tension of having to watch for the animatronics.
