Out of gameplay stand-point, it's kind of a low-budget game appeal. You can see that each game is flawed, but they do improve it with each installment.
All of the games also have same cast that people have grown to like. And writing doesn't take itself seriously at all, there's lots of jokes, and some work, while some just fall flat.
The moeshit. That's pretty much it.
