After 70+ hours I learned about the cover system in Fallout 4.

http://gearnuke.com/fallout-4-heres-fire-weapon-cover/#

Have you ever overlooked an "important" game mechanic /v/?

>play x game for 30 hours

>play x game for 40 hours
>find out there is a tripod mount action when prone

fuck everyone of them.

In 3D Dot Game Heroes, the boomerang being able to stun. Shit would've been really handy at points.
>>
Fallout 4 as well. After level 20, I realized you could scroll down the perks menu with the mouse
>>
Didn't know how to link arts in chain attacks in Xenoblade until after I beat the game
>>
>>320125329
you have to stealth in mgs v , this is not criticism its a good thing to play how you want
>>
I did not know you could brake in Rocket League until i was a pro offline.
>>
>>320125329

the cover in fallout 4 sucks ass. I wouldn't even call it a cover system at all. Other FPS had aiming around corners like this, don't be fooled
>>
>>320125532
Please tell me
>>
>>320125854
I'm used to older fps games were you lean with Q and E.

This feature is no longer that common though.

But when you use the same color the multiplier went up. How hard was that to think that if you did it again it would go higher? The only thing I would get would that you said that you didn't know that the colorless one increases the combo too and allows you to pick a different color art while keeping the multiplier up.
>>
It's another tacked on feature that doesn't even work because you STILL get shot through walls when you're using cover.
>>
>>320126341
Consoles killed that feature on multiplats. You have to play something like Insurgency that was made with PC in mind.

You know how your armor consists of arm and leg, chest, head and then a slot for a "base" clothing (like dirty army fatigues for example)? Well apparently, you can modify the base for massive defense buffs. Just learned this yesterday, 100 hours in.

I didn't know you could repair guns in fallout 3 until like my 3rd playthrough. Literally all my money went to having flak and shrapnel repair my chinese assault rifle. Even before I knew I could repair I maxed out the repair skill because I thought it was for slowing down weapon degradation not actual repair. The memory makes me consider seppuku desu.

>>320144793
This.
Leaning in most games I remember in the late 90s and early 2000s was really ineffective, most often because the lean distance was so short that your lower body is still exposed anyway when you peek out. That, and leaning was usually paired with reduced movement speed if not an inability to move while leaning.

In any multiplayer environment, manual leaning is often too slow and clunky unless you're camped up in some distant corner. Any active, close quarters setting, you should just step out to check and step back. That it also takes up two keys to perform is also a significant hindrance, if the game has any degree of other movement options, controlling leaning and other basic movement functions without some peculiar key configurations is very janky.

Only a few tactical games had effective leaning mechanics, and with the exception of ARMA, you could ignore leaning even in those. ARMA 3's stance system is pretty good.

Jesus. At that rate you probably don't know these,

-There's a key to look behind you
-Hold forward and double tap jump to flip forward, it makes you gain speed, good for when you're out of boost
-You get purple streaks behind you when you're at max speed, wasting boost won't make you go any faster
-The default power slide key is also the same key for aerial roll, rotating around the z-axis instead of y. Good for landing on your wheels
