Battlefield 4 took a shit ton of patches to get functioning, it was total shit in its first year. After it was fixed though it's been fantastic.
Also, indie devs generally can't copy the formula of a AAA game like Battlefield 4 because the scale of the game is pretty fucking vast. Generally indie games are smaller so they can get released in a reasonable timeframe.

It did several things right:
-Let people make their own dedicated servers and give them full control over them which gives the game a lifespan as long as people are willing to play it for
-Massive post-launch support with free content like new maps and huge, dramatic gameplay improvements
Even now, years later, there's a new free map pack coming out soon with some maps from Bad Company 2 remade in the Frostbite 3 engine. Their support is excellent and this game will be active and popular for long after Battlefront and Hardline kick the can.
My one biggest complaint is that I've had quite a lot of technical issues that seem like they should be easy fixes but either weren't widespread or DICE just never bothered to correct them.

I have a very different experience of the game so you're either bad and don't know how to handle aircraft or you're not playing on good servers.
I've ragequit plenty of matches because one jet pilot hogged it for the whole game and went 70-0.
As for helicopters you can't just get in it and kill shit, you need a coordinated team, transports need repair tools and gunners otherwise they're just great big flying coffins, and attacks need a nose gunner. Littlebirds can be pretty OP and you can fly those on your own.
I think bombers need to do a lot more ground damage though, JDAM is very hard to unlock.

What cover, most of the maps in this game have clear sight lines on the sky from the ground and a level elevation. Also are you referring to the ECM jammer that either works or gas the missles spin around you like a Ferris wheel before slamming you into the ground with a totally balanced "mobility hit". The Attack Jet and Attack Helicopter (Which are supposed to be close air support) sure need it since the AJ's air to ground power was nerfed and the AH gets ripped to shreds as long as it's within range of the MAA. The class system in BF4 is already fucked, you can use a DMR or Carbine on any class. It's not like you'd be shooting down air vehicles while engaging infantry because all it takes is a couple RPGs or C4 to kill you. Plus the angle of your gun can only go so high. The way spotting works in BF4 if one guy has seen you and tagged you, everyone can see you on the minimap.
For example I use a carbine with a tool that auto-spots anything in the reticle and I just spam that constantly.
I can spot you without really paying much attention from half way across the map then any jets overhead will instantly see you on their minimap.
Prox scan just spots shit in a radius around the jet.

If you like the infantry part of battlefield a whole lot, then hardline is pretty good. Vehicle wise it lacks since it's mostly just transport. Population is decent on ps4. Just the base game.

Here's my advice to anyone interested in buying; buy premium edition key off of some third party site and redeem it through origin. Origin has a ton of shitty scammers and email phishers and I would recommend just not having a credit card connected to your account.

Anyone here play BF4 with TinyWall? What process do you have to whitelist for Origin to connect properly? I have Origin.exe, plugincontainer.exe, bf4webhelper.exe and bf4.exe whitelisted but if I have TinyWall activated Origin still gives me an error saying it wasn't possible to validade my account.
If I turn it off it works though.

Depends.
SMAW has slightly less damage, but less drop and therefore a much farther effective range.
RPG has more damage but the drop gets heavy, making it better for short use.
Also SMAW looks cooler.
