>It's an indie game.
>It's a 2D game, an RPG, an FPS, a party game, a fighting game, or a walking simualtor.
Why aren't there ever any unique genre's?
>>320106636
what the fuck is a unique genre
>>320106685
Anything that doesn't exist

Cunnilingus simulator.

genre is a word derived from generic, meaning it fits into the style of pre-existing things in the given medium.
unique genre is an oxymoron
>>320106865
>simulator isn't a common genre
roguelike is an unique genre, only one game fits the description
the rest are just roguelites interpreted as roguelikes
>it's an indie game
>doesn't matter what it is or what it does, /v/ will hate it regardless
What about audio games? I played a game on my phone where you had to navigate through hell or something using binaural audio to avoid obstacles and enemies.

That's bullshit, but I believe it.

This.
Something unique will be hard to classify into a genre, fall into multiple genres in unusual ways, or create an all new genre.
Like, what genre is Katamari?
What genre is NiGHTS?
What genre is Killer 7?
The whole point of genres is classification, they're not meant to be unique.
