I'm playing the PCE version of Ys III (soundtrack is one continuous orgasm) on my Note III with a Moga Power Hero during my lunch breaks. It's pretty good, but the bluetooth lag gets in the way, and it doesn't recognize the shoulder triggers. Wired controls and secondary shoulder buttons will obviously fare better, I just want to make sure they're not garbage.

It's not very reliable, first of all the internet fucking awful. You have to be 10 feet from the modern for it to kinda work.
Second, the n64 emulation is awful, the controls on the psx emulation will change IN THE MIDDLE OF PLAYING A GAME. X will suddenly be O and up will be left...
Third, it can only emulate for like 3 hours before the battery dies
Fourth, the blue models are painted blue, not made with blue plastic. This means the paint chips and rubs off.
Lastly, the system well decide to crash at random and the system will black screen until the battery dies...

DS's screen resolution is tiny as hell. This thing has a 720p resolution. It can fit both DS screens on one screens.

Stuff like Tekken 5 and Soul Calibur work great.
Outrun 2006 coast to coast needs frameskipping and it crashes sometimes but is playable.
Gitaroo Man is also playable, but has sound issues.
The buttons aren't great for rhythm games in honesty.
The device is godly for RPGs and platformers though.

It's not about being embarrassed. I had a Steelseries free. Worked great besides the bluetooth lag, and I used it with a phone with a kickstand feature on the case, primarily at the table in the break room at my place of work.
But if you don't have a stable surface or a kickstand on your phone, solutions like that just don't work. I use a Moga Power Hero right now, which is better due to the clip and still relatively small, but because of the bluetooth lag, I'd still rather get the XD. It's pricier than a Gameklip or a bluetooth controller, but other than that, it's one of the best solutions to this particular problem available.

With a root you can map the buttons to onscreen buttons for games that dont support external controllers. The point is that it's small and easily used. It's better than a bulky 360 controller, ds4 with a flimsy clip or, even worse, touchscreen controls.

Wii and PS2 emulators require a lot of power and use every x86 optimization along the chain to function at good speeds. Arm processors are just straight slow. 1.7 gh/z speeds and the like.

The only thing this controller is missing is analog triggers. It connects just as well as the ds4 and ds3, source being that I own one and use it frequently. The only thing it falters with so far is project diva extend, but otherwise it's fine. I use it for mhfu mostly. Fits great in my sisters pockets and she wears shitty girl pants with pockets shorter than her hands.

My handhelds were almost exclusively played in school and class. Now that I'm always at a computer I found I only like them for nostalgia and lying in bed sometimes or taking a shit. I don't know, almost all of my played Vita and 3DS games are almost all gameplay, like SMT4, Monster Hunter 4, Soul Sacrifice and Tales of Hearts.
2 of those are straight JRPG's and still almost completely gameplay to the point people cried SMT4 wasn't enough like purse owners.

It comes with a stand. It's a weird one, but it works well enough. It's uses adhesive to stick to the back of your phone, then you extend something kinda like a keychaon ring out and your phone rests on it. I personally don't like it because it would make my phone bulkier when stuck to it, but the hinge on the ring is stupid strong.

If you have played monster hunter before, expecially if youve only played mh4u, play portable 3rd. Its the second release in the 3rd Gen, but you don't have to fight with water controls. It was only released in japan, but a translation path is avaliable. Plays like a less mobile, slightly clunker 4u.
Play freedom unite if you want to know more about the series roots or love the series and want to see how far it's come. It's a great game, but it will kick your ass in frustrating ways that are symptoms of it being an early monhan game without the kinks worked out.
