Minor name changes are the stupidest thing you can argue over. The cutscene changes mentioned for Xenosaga ARE censorship. But when you translate things over, name changes are expected.
Doll was changed to Skell in X because, to Japanese, ドール is a unique word. To english speakers, it sounds too much like the dolls girls play with. Changing it to Skell allows western players to feel the mechs have a unique name like japanese players have, thus it's more in localization.
