how do you deal with this /v/, you know you have felt this before, right?

Can't say I have, why do you feel that way OP?

dunno, I liked the characters, the ending was bittersweet, you spent so many hours with them, but I'll never "see" them again, I know they are just lines of codes, but it's hard to find a good story nowdays, and when it does it hits you hard
>>
I move on and lament when the next game in the series didn't have nearly as strong a cast.
>>
>>320074106
I guess I can kinda agree with ya there, at least in terms of good stories these days. I feel that if the game presents a "Where are they now?", it makes things much more satisfying as a conclusion.

What game did you finish anyway?
>>
>>320074703
Pretty sure he's talking Persona 4. And yeah, I'll admit I felt a bit sad at the time.
It passes.

Actually it's Read only memories, great characters, good setting.

too bad it'ss marketed as a "queer" game by it's kickstarter when it dosen't even mention it once in-game

OP gets it.

P4's ending tore into me compared to P3. P4 was so much more immersive. Shit felt real. P3 tried too damn hard.

P4 was all fun and games, mostly lighthearted for the most part (even though it was a murder mystery) and them BAM dead fucking imouto
>>
>>320076190
Also Aigis is shit so seeing her at the end wasn't fun
>>
>>320076190
>>320076432
P3 definitely had the sadder ending though. I mean, at least in P4 you survive and can still visit your friends. P3 ends with you fucking dying, leaving all the characters behind forever.
>>
>>320076190
I kinda felt the opposite way. P3 felt more real since P4 was much more lighthearted and almost everything worked out for the characters perfectly.

I kinda prefer when there's more of a struggle and bad shit happening, it makes a good ending much more satisfying.
>>
>>320077893
I think P4's ending would carry more if a fuckshitton of sequels hadn't come out. I'm getting sick of the characters, now. But back in 2008? Fucking praying to God that they would somehow catch up with that train
>>
>>320078697
Yeah, I probably value the characters more since I haven't played the spinoffs.
Is the flanderization in them (Mainly PQ and P4AU) as bad as most people say?
If so, I'll probably just avoid them for good since the characters are really what make the Persona games for me.
>>
>>320072614
You'll get over it sooner than you think Anon.

It's not THAT bad in PQ (unless you like Chie, Akihiko or Teddie). Some characters actually have pretty nice scenes (Kanji bonding with Ken, pic related) and when shit actually hits the fan it's actuallly heartbreaking.
Stay away from Ultimax though. Story is just garbage, which is a shame, Sho is a pretty enteraining guy.
>>
>>320078846
Don't know about Ultimax, but vanilla P4A did them alright, though the story was shit. PQ is also alright save for some instances.
>>
>>320078846
Haven't played P4AU, so can't speak for that. But fucking PQ is absolute garbage. They don't even feel like themselves. There's near 20 characters, so at a big event each might get 1 - 3 lines of text usually summarizing their personality. Chie is always hungry. Kanji is an idiot. Junpei is a fuckboy. All the time. The resdesign into chibi doesn't really help you take things much more seriously, either.
>>
>>320075682
seriously? i'm just about to play the game.
not sure if i'm ready for the feels.

it's not that bad man, have a great time, play the game like you were there, your choice matters, even the little dialogue

>tfw you finish a story game where you got attached to the characters
Has never happened for me with a videogame, most games are too short or written too poorly (at least that I've played) to warrant getting attached.

anime on the other hand is very easy to get attached
>>
>>320079441
Alright, I'll probably give PQ a chance even though Chies my fav. I'll just put up with the bits of flanderization here and there.

for lasting impressions I can recommend you

P4, Ghost Trick, maybe the hotline miami series, read only memories, spec ops the line

those games that you finish and makes you think, what the fuck do I do with my life now
>>
>>320080005
If you're gonna play Persona, you may want to start with 3. Mainly because it's really hard to go back to 3 once you've played 4 first.
>>
>>320080724
>>320080910
I see Spec Ops the Line mentioned a lot, is the writing actually so good it deserves a playthrough? It looked pretty generic gameplay wise from the various clips I've seen.

Good idea on Persona though, I never got around to playing those and they emulate piss easy anyway
>>
>>320081032
spec ops is overrated tbqh. worth giving a chance to see some of the stuff it does, but it's hardly the revolution in game storytelling you see it touted as

Yikes, that one word is the only bad thing about this picture.
>>
>>320081032
It's a deconstruction of the FPS genre; it's interesting, and it has an intriguing approach, but it definitely is't the masterpiece that many people call it.

You should play it, though.

>>
>>320081032
Spec Ops is a game that you probably wanna go through all in one sitting. Makes it so you actually feel tired and weary like the characters, and the game isn't terribly long anyways. Worth picking up on sale.
Persona, on the other hand, will take you a lot longer time to beat so take your time and get into that comfy atmosphere.

I wish there were more games like that. There seems to be only a small handful that gets me good. Perhaps it's better that way.

When you finish a game you get attached to, the best you can do to deal with it is just to get over it, really. Or you can always pray for a sequel or something.
>>
>>320076432
Nanako and Teddie both not being dead was when I dropped the game
It clearly showed to me that they just did not give a shit, and that anything that wasn't super happy-go-lucky anime hijinks would not be permitted

I'm surprised that I've never seen a direct Oneshot thread even though there's been so many mentions and acknowledgements, especially since we have the extended version coming out later. Are we holding up on making a thread for when the trailer is out or something?
