In the last gameplay we got the fire resin lasted very fucking long.
That being said, I prefer resins and buffs lasting 5 seconds, but being more easy to come by. It balances better and stop the pvp from being a buff fest.

Same thing happened to me with Dark Souls. I borrowed it off of a friend and tried to play it on my Xbox 360 hooked up to my PC CRT monitor. Just didn't feel it.
Gave the PC version a try a year and a half later and now it is easily the best game I've played in nearly a decade.

Magic in Dark Souls as a whole is completely fucked. It's so easy to spam it with virtually no trade-offs or consequences. The spells largely do the work for you, as well. It's so fire-and-forget that a scrub can just spam the same shit with no problem until he wins or gets killed. It takes zero skill.
I'd be more in favor of a system where magic is used to enhance the melee system and simply do away entirely with the ranged bullshit. Give me a spell that sets my sword on fire or shoots a MLGS-like blast that's difficult to land without setup but does ridiculous damage if it does. Get rid of catalysts and shit altogether. Make magic more situational and difficult to use than just "press button, collect souls."

Only issues I have with DS2 is that every single area has a boss and the lot of them are very undeveloped compared to the stuff in DaS1, and the really stellar boss fights are all "huge humanoid with weapon." That being said, the problems people have with a lot of the bosses in DaS2 are also prevalent with the bosses in Bloodborne which is that they have some sort of stupid gimmick (Smelter Demon coating himself in fire = Blood Starved Beast coating himself in poison mist), are way too easy (Dragonrider = Witch of Hemwick,) or just ganks/bosses with a shitload of adds (Rom = Freja.) I love both games but a lot of the bosses in both dont come nearly as close to the best fights in DaS1 imo except maybe Fume Knight.
The movement and control is just a lot better though and they try to balance shielding vs rolling which works in some ways but totally fucking fails in others (ADP is an abortion of an idea.)

The dragonrider sucks, not because it's easy, but because it's boring. The witches felt interesting and puzzly in a demons souls sorta way. A lot of des bosses are easy but have unique gimmicks that are interesting enough. And then when it comes to adds, or just ganks and enemy groups in general, the speed of bloodborne makes them way more fun and manageable. DaS2 is the slowest game in the series, so fighting groups is extremely tedious and boring. I was really late to the Souls hype train and finally got my first go at it with SotFS on PS4 and since I had nothing to compare it so I enjoyed it for the most part until I got to Shrine of Amana. Am I cheating myself out of any memorable zones by not finishing it. I feel like theres still quite a bit of game left.

How do I truly git gud? I've beat ng+++ at base level and NG at base level + various other restrictions, but I still don't feel like I'm good - I just have a lot of patience and know boss patterns and stuff. What can I do to git gud?

Flaming arrows and gang rapes. It was the first zone to truely ass rape me. I was stuck there for a few days. Its really ugly and the boss was a pathetic letdown.
The boat thing was neat and felt like a huge victory when I finally pulled the level.
I don't see how people can enjoy DS2
