Who /CRT/ here?
>>

Dear god CRT looks like shit.
>>
>>320043770
no u
For real though, CRTs never look good on camera.
>>
>>320043942
This
They are near impossible to photograph well.

Gots me a Sony PVM for my RGB out consoles. Comfy as fuck.
>>
Repping the superior units. I have two and some friends are giving me a third (it's a 480p and up unit, for 6th gen consoles).

I mourn how the reputations of countless great games will be hurt in 20 years by the mass death of the world's CRTs. Even shitty units will become valued finds in that dark age.

>using CRTs

People who refuse to advance with the times are such idiots, mein Gott.

sauce?
>>
CRT shaders at 4k such as CRT-Royale emulate a CRT perfectly. No reason to keep archaic hardware like this around.

The space issue is a real concern.

>>
>>320044716
Pretty sure this was just a myth from the mid-2000s.
>>
>>320043557
I always hated them because of that stupid peeping sound they make.
>>
>>320045591
What?
>>

>>

Yeah, exactly.
>>
>>320046439
>>320046486
It's been awhile. Care to elaborate?
>>
>>320046645
A very high frequency tone
You become deaf to it at a certain age because of natural hearing loss.

My parents could never hear it
>>
>>320046908
I'm 23 and I still hear it, fuck. No one ever knew what I was talking about when I told them about that sound, it's annoying as fuck.
>>
I want a widescreen CRT, but sometimes the flatscreen ones have this noticeable warping that makes my OCD go nuts. Same with normal 4:3 ones. Is there a way to fix this problem?
>>
>>320046908
not all crt's make the sound either
>>
>>320046908
Oh, those.
Did CRTs emit them?
>>
>>320044502
There are flatscreen CRTs, you know. Just wish my TV supported component.

Maybe I'm cursed with elephant ears, but I can hear that noise in 90% of all rooms, regardless of a CRT being present. I'm currently hearing it loud as shit in my room, and all I have running is a PC and tiny LCD monitor.

OR because your hear deteriorates with age, to a point where you can no longer pick up on certain frequencies.
>>
>>320043557
I play all my Gamecube/PS2/Xbox era games and below on CRT exclusively.
They just don't look as good on a flastscreen

no, its a high pitched sound

the noise is basically the same pitch. it's probably not real tinnitus though unless you often hear loud music etc.

my ear noise went away when i got a prescription from dentist for physiotherapy and got my jaw/neck massaged/fixed but after about a year or two it comes back. you probably had tooth braces and it somehow creates an imbalance in your jaw muscles which affects your ear too

I still play Wii U on my CRT

I have that tv since 97' and is big and still functional, I don't have any reason to change it soon.
>>
Holy shit, I just realized that CRTs are our generations record players.
>>
>>320047457
Enjoying your tinnitus bruh?
>>
>>320049534
Makes sense.

Records are technically better because of studios compressing audio horribly, both on digital markets and CDs. Their size is intrusive though. CRT has better blacks, response time, motion blur prevention and anti-aliasing thanks to scanlines. Their size is also intrusive but they also only support up to 1080p and I think don't support HDMI.
>>
fuck CRT, you can get the same effect on emulators today with proper shaders (PROPER FFS, like CRT Royale, not the garbage defaults in emus) without the high risk of eye cancer.
>>
>>320049529
>I still play Wii U on my CRT
>not playing Wii U games in 1080p
Why the fuck would you do that?
>>
>>320050063
Not him but Wii U can barely do anti-aliasing and look jagged as hell on an HDTV.

i only have a CRT still for melee practice and speedruns
>>

lolno Records are the worst format available today. Audiophiles just have a tendency for having higher end gear and buying in to a shit ton of snake oil.
>>

>>
>>320050063
Why would I'll care about 1080p?

I keep a crt around for melee and old games.

28 can still hear it. my girlfriend hasn't been able to hear it even from what I can tell.
>>
>>320049981
>compressing audio horribly

lol no, they increased the amplitude to make it louder clipping the highs and lows, it wasn't a compression issue.
Also that was only when cd's first came out the loudness wars are over.

>Play FFX HD and TLoD on HDTV

Why is this allowed?
>>
>>320053045
Because TV manufacturers have no reason to be concerned about input lag.
Get a monitor.

Not my pic but I still use pic related (and have since 2003) for anything non-HD.

non-hd or sprite art games just look odd to me on HDTV's.
