The jews at backpack.tf dropped buds as a currency making them almost worthless.
This caused a really big impact in the economy since virtually everything worth something was priced on buds.
Now items are more worthless than ever.
Like for example the Strange kritzkrieg was priced at two buds and back in the tima that was 40 keys or so, now they are priced 13 keys, not so valuable anymore.

Over the roughly 3 years the backpack.tf has tracked items, the number of Bill's hats has stayed consistent at about 173,000. Refined on the other hand has gone from about 600,000 to nearly 4 million in game, and keys have gone from 100,000 to over 1 million in game. The more currency you have in an economy, the more currency you need to buy items that stay stable.
