What was your favorite moment/experience with a game this year? It doesn't have to be in a game released this year, or even about the game in question.
I'll start: It was my entire play-through of the Witcher 3. When I wasn't in a different state for work, I was grinding overtime. I'd come back to the game, sometimes after a week of not playing, over the course of several months. Aside from Hearthstone on a phone or tablet, it was pretty much the only game I played for the entirety of the time. i think the time I had t reflect on it on the road really added to the experience.
>What about you, Anon?
A lot of moments in Hotline Miami 2 were really nice, as was the hype of the announcement for Jacket in Payday 2.
But it's gotta be Undertale. Memes aside, there were so many FUCK YEAR moments in it.
>You're blue now. That's my attack!
>(A strange light fills the room.)
>The heroine appears
>But it refused.
>And you're never waking up!
Fucking I love that kind of bullshit.
I like the new Tribes Ascend update
>At university

"You made a snowman really happy."

Course, lotta people liked the game.
"splatoon will not even sell 300K worldwide"

I fucking bought the game and I pretty much agreed with that
>Play MGS V
>Invest over 100 hours
>all aboard the hype train
>R-ruse cruise, right g-guys?
>Finally accept that MGS, my favorite series, is dead.
>First time ever experiencing this

It's this or Bloodborne senpai, choose. Besides those games, were there really any kind of "suprising" gaming moments this year?
>>320039932
Not my FAVORITE one, but probably the most significant personally.

welcome to the old boy's club mate

Was Bloodbourne really that good if you didn't have an inclination towards the souls games? Everyone seemed to like it, but it doesn't seem...significant?
When Xseed localized Brandish the Dark Revenant. I haven't been this pleasantly surprised since...well, last year when I gave Sayonara Umihara Kawase a shot on a whim.
A close second would have to be Fatal Frame 5 not fucking up the concept of using the gamepad as the Camera Obscura. It was fun as hell circling around and taking pictures of ghosts.
Umdertale is a game that will have an effect on most anyone, whether it be positive or negative. it's not something that you simply put down.
GOTY, and definitely FULL of moments like this.

It's been SO long since I played a Fatal Frame.
MFW no wii u

Nintendo making a successful new IP with Splatoon? Because Nintendo trotting out a new IP these days is a sight for sore eyes, let alone one that actually goes somewhere.
A surprising gaming moment this year was the shitty Binding of Isaac: Rebirth DLC which had nothing substantial to offer.

It's admittedly imperfect in other areas like pacing or storyline but when it comes to snapping pics of ghosts, it's easily the best in the series to date.
