Those games were nver intended to ever be finished unless you're lucky. I put 200 hours into fucking Azure Sky and never finished it.
Holy shit Azure Dreams is so good anon, you have incredible taste.
The game made me so nervous. I remember getting my fucking incredible equipment that I had been upgrading through the whole game to try to get to the last floor. I was so nervous I was going to die and shit.
Also, the freaking death enemy taking levels from my monsters was the worst.
As for dungeon crawlers...try Digimon World 2. It's pretty fun if you know what you are doing.

This is exanima. It's just an early access game at the moment but the combat is pretty unique. Completely skill based, there's no numbers tied to weapons, random loot, permadeath.
Large enemies are coming in the next update, will post a screen or two.

I will admit, I'm pretty crazy about the game.
It's not for everyone cause it's insanely skill based. Took me weeks to get proper at it.
But once it clicks, it's immensely satisfying.
$15 is a steal imo.

If you're into roguelikes Caves of Qud is fantastic. One of my favorite games of 2015, although it was originally put out for beta access in 2010. It's a post apoc crawl with permadeath, an awesome character creator (mutations galore), and way too much to explore. And unlike games like nethack or adom, it's super accessible for new roguelike players.

Yup, that's it. It's pretty much dorf fort adventure mode: the game, but with a crazy futuristic plot and a nice integrated tileset. It's 10 bucks but the ascii version is available for free if you wanna give it a try.
