I have never understood why it's always the average games that explode. Her Story, Lisa, and now Undertale. Yeah, I'm not going to make very many friends with this one but let it be known I do not think this is a bad game. You build a PC because you get a better experience out of all games, not just because there's games you get to play that other people don't. Generally speaking PC exclusives are exclusive because they wouldn't work without keyboard and mouse, or on such limited console hardware. The entire RTS genre is the biggest example of the former. Do you remember how much of a mess Crysis 1 was when they eventually ported it over the the 360? PC gets very few AAA exclusives because there's no company that directly profits from PC exclusivity, and the only console exclusives that don't make it to pc were usually funded directly by Sony, Microsoft, or Nintendo.

To be honest, there isn't one.
The whole idea of buying an entire system just to play a few exclusives is the mindset of a console gamer. The reason you build a PC is to play a huge variety of games, especially multiplats, with far better performance, visual fidelity, and customisation than what is available on consoles.
Not to mention, games on PC are generally MUCH cheaper than games on consoles, and you can even pirate singleplayer games and play them for free. Plus you have a wide range of emulators available to you, so you could play Super Mario Galaxy 2 at 60 fps, 1080 with anti-aliasing if you wanted to.
The reasons people move away from consoles are
>shit performance on every game, games that run above 30 FPS are very rare
>shit visuals, including bad draw distances, crappy textures, and no anisotropic filtering
>paid online service, requiring you to pay to play with other people (this is really bad when you consider how many games have heavy multiplayer focus)
>more expensive games
>very limited hard drive space
>absolutely no chance of adding modifications to your games to enjoy them better
If these things piss you off, then consider PC. If you don't give a shit about any of these, please stay with your console, because you are not the intended audience of PC.

I just don't like when the potential is castrated because dev have to keep material limitation in mind (would it be gamepad or hardware) but that's about it. Otherwise, I'm quite happy that more player have access to the game, it usually mean more coverage and more chance for a sequel, so I don't give a shit if a game I like is suddenly not a "PC exclusive" anymore after one year. In my opinion, Undertales greatest strength is also it's greatest weakness; it's an unapologetic indie game.
The fact that it is an indie game allows it to break the mold a bit, have an interesting and unique take on the turn based RPG such as the schmup style combat that changes with bosses to mix up the gameplay, a pure pacifist route option, deserved shaming for any non pacifist route (As compared to the defining scene in spec ops the line), and all the gameplay elements that break the fourth wall and alter the game experience in interesting way.
On the other hand, it suffers a lot because it is an indie game with little funding when compared to AAA games. The art direction (while good in style) is too low fidelity, the writing is sloppy and is very hit and miss, and many features are half present in the game (such as hard mode, the gaster storyline, and the arguable missed opportunity by only having 3 ending types). The biggest injury that being an indie game delivered to Undertale is the game length. Even for an indie game, RPG's are the genre that have the least trouble in extending gameplay through a variety of elements, and even though Undertale uses quite a few of them (random battles, a pure grind playthrough, and a playthrough where you cannot get stronger to fight enemies easier) the game is unbelievably short. Even if one looks for secrets, the first playthrough of the entire story should take no more than 3-4 hours, and if the pacifist run was done on that first playthrough, then the second true ending comes within 30-50 minutes later. Beyond that, the game is also suffers in it's presentation as many "controversial" elements are presented without much tact or subtlety, once again due to it's indie origin, which serves to be extremely off putting if one is either uncomfortable with the subject matter it handles, the way it handles it, or the people the subject matter panders too.

As a player, I highly favour gameplay as the most important element of a game, which Undertale delivers on in a unique and engaging way, and I enjoy the style of humour it presents as well. Consoles didn't kill the gaming industry, that's a fallacy that disregards the very foundations console have built, the time it took to get there and the support it provides for AAA game development. In fact it's quite the opposite. If consoles suddenly stopped existing or if their exclusives went multiplat it would seem reasonable to think people would automatically migrate to PC but that's not the case and the results would be devastating. PC's market share wouldn't be able to grow fast enough, the market would become over saturated and many devs and quality IP's would simply vanish.
All PC gaming actually did was take a bite out of console market share and in return, flooded the gaming space with a plethora of second rate, low budget mobile tier games. It's very similar to the smartphone situation, everybody now has access to high end technology yet there is no infrastructure that supports proper game development nor do games take advantage of the hardware
The bottom line is good hardware doesn't buy good games and PC clowns need to realize this, if people didn't take on the massive consumer fad that is PC gaming, we would simply have a much bigger pool of games to select from today. The reality is most people who are going to be playing Fallout on PC don't have high end rigs and devs can't optimize the port for only those that do, these people would be the ones who are actually holding back PC gaming but it's bad and dishonest to think like that.
While game budgets rise steadily, consoles who hold market dominance will adapt to the change with hardware iterations towards the end of it's life cycle and it is this infrastructure of complimentary support that actually holds the gaming industry together and drives it forward while also ensuring developers remain profitable and continue to make the games we all know and love. PC will continue to contribute nothing and in return receives nothing.
